Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #122

Written by: iwona    10 Comments

Sorry for the late sketch this week! I hope I didn’t mess up a schedule for anyone who was waiting in vain for it to appear on Saturday… I’ve been feeling uninspired lately, probably due to tiredness as for one reason or another I’ve been up until the small hours plenty in the recent weeks. Here’s to hoping that this timeless classic of a sketch will make up for the extra wait! I can’t believe we haven’t yet ‘done’ this one…

The sketch is simple but it lends itself to a world of possibilities, and the path I chose was certainly a scenic route. I chose Penny Black‘s Poppy Time stamp and the sentiment from Technique Tuesday‘s Bring On the Sunshine set.

I coloured the whole scene with Inktense pencils (which I’m yet to get for myself, these were borrowed 🙂 ) and an aqua brush. I did a lot of layering of the colours and blending on the petals especially.
I flicked some grayish ink over the panel, and finished the card by adding a strip of patterned paper. I don’t remember exactly where this one came from, but I suspect it may be one of Crate Paper‘s collections.

If you would like to play along:

– You’re kindly asked to save the sketch image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
– Share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget below, so that I can come and check it out!
– A new sketch is posted every other Saturday night (10pm Australian EST, 6am American EST, and the link widget is open for two weeks. However, you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section and I’ll pop in to see it.
– Every now and then, I’ll be inviting one person who uses my sketch, to join me for the next one!
