WMS September Release Previews – Day 3

The last day of Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release previews is upon us (Gosh, that went quick! That one lost day caught me off guard), and we’re wrapping it up with two more Halloween stamp sets: Spooky Tree and Vintage Witch.

I made a little treat box with a matching card, for my friend’s kiddos, and I combined both sets on them. I simply stamped the tree silhouette on the gable box (cut with my Silhouette), along with one of the fantastic sentiments that come with the Vintage Witch set. I love how the tree image is overlapping the sides of the box.
The main image on the card was done by sponging the background with various Versa Color inks (they’re as good as Distress Inks for blending, IMHO) and stamping the witch and tree in indigo over the created night sky. I masked the moon with a circle die cut and sponged the sky first, then removed the circle and added some more yellow to the surface of the moon. I’m not too pleased with how that photographed, though. In reality the colours are darker and more saturated, much more pleasing to the eye.

I used Seize The Sketch #4 layout, for the card:

WMS September Release Previews – Day 2

After a day’s delay due to a very naughty international post system, I’m delighted to join in the Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release previews! Woo-hoo! The three stamp sets previewed yesterday, which I missed sharing, I’ll make sure I’ll get a good coverage of during the release Blog Hop on Thursday. Today, let me introduce the totally spook-a-licious Splat That, All Hallow’s Eve and The Count.

I say it every year anew, I don’t even do Halloween, y’know…but there’s a huge BUT. Claire’s talent. Yep! These swoon-worthy Halloween stuff that she’s serving us today is sure to convert everyone, and I’m not even kidding. Check it out…

I know, right?? All Edgar A. Poe fans, please stand up! I featured here the magnificent vintage raven image, and the sentiment from All Hallow’s Eve, and Splat That for a bit of good ole’ gore. LOL! As for the branches… well, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow until I tell you more about it 🙂

I used Cardabilities sketch #83, below:

Next I’ve got a clean & simple take on The Count. Love this silhouette. LOVE. I let it speak for itself, in all its terrifying glory 😀

This card follows the FTL258 sketch:

I’m sorry for not getting into much detail, I’m literally writing this last minute! I hope you’ll join us tomorrow for the reveal of further two sets. It’s gonna be spooky as well!

WMS August Pajama Party

This month’s Pajama Party has just started on the Waltzingmouse blog! For those who missed the news in July, it replaced the old blog party (blog waltz) and it’s an exciting event full of great challenges, prizes and more! Not only there are several different challenges you can join (some of them perfect for breaking out your new WMS stamps), but you also have a chance to become the next Guest Designer and join the Team for the next New Release!

Most of the challenges are open for 24 hours, with the exception of the “bedtime story” sketch, which you can join in for a full week. You can see the sketch below, along with a card that I made with it.

Father’s Day is just around the corner for us Aussies (this Sunday), so I took the opportunity to combine the nautical stamps from the latest release, with the sentiments from the Man Of The Hour set, which has several designs made specifically to honour Father’s Day. Yay! Such a perfect combo for me, this card is going to my dad-in-law who loves all things nautical 🙂

The background was done by inking the Pinstripe Background, I also distressed the edges slightly to add some depth. The rope label and the anchor belong to Ocean Bound, the sentiment to Man Of The Hour, and I embossed them all in white. The inside of the card features another wonderful sentiment, which I think suits dad very well, and I added two stamped helms from Ocean Bound.
If you’d like to learn how to make a sailor’s knot like mine, check out Barbara’s awesome tutorial HERE.

Hop on over to the WMS blog, to check out more inspiring sketch samples! I hope you’ll find the time to play along 🙂

WMS August Release Blog Hop

Hello! I hope you enjoyed the sneak peeks of the new Waltzingmouse Stamps goodies, and you’re ready for shopping! Hopefully you arrived here from Anya’s blog; otherwise you can join us anytime by starting at Claire’s blog. There’s lots I want to show you, so let’s get to it!

Here’s the first card for you, featuring the florals from Two Step Sprig and the sentiment from Big Day – Today. I added a die cut branch and some glimmer mist splatters, while the sentiment panel was popped up on foam tape and embellished with some baker’s twine.

Next, a sleek nautical – themed card which I did some masking to further stripe-ify the Pinstripe Background. LOL
The focal point is a tag with a ship & sentiment from Ocean Bound, and the inside features the quote from Safe Harbour Sentiments and another Ocean Bound image.

The fun little tag below, combines some Ocean Bound goodness (sentiment, anchor), with a so popular these days map patterned paper. I die cut a heart shape in it and backed with a polka dot DP, also added a wee strip of washi tape to the bottom. I think my favourite element is the big fat string (which I salvaged from a bath sponge… shhh!)

And finally… oh noes! More Ocean Bound! I think it shows which set I’m favouring at the moment 🙂
I shaded the lifesaver with Copics, added the sentiment and the rope frame from the set, and paired it all with some fun paper and embellies.

Next stop in the waltz is Edna! Thanks for visiting me today, enjoy the inspiration – and happy shopping 🙂

WMS August Release Previews – Day 3

The last day of Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release previews is upon us, with the last three stamp sets, Big Day – Today, Pinstripe Background and Zig-Zag Background. I’m still grinning at this month full of goodness, and I’m sure you’re already itching to do some shopping too! What’s your favourite(s) so far??

I stamped the Zig-Zag Background on the card below, in a very subtle light green (Fresh Ink Pear), and used the foliage / dots – “berries” from yesterday’s previewed sets (Simple Sprig, Funky Flowers) to stamp over it and around the sentiment from Big Day – Today, framed in the label from Holiday Labels 14. I used a decorative die cut and chevron ribbon, to further spice up the focal point.

Another great sentiment from Big Day – Today, is featured here along with Funky Flowers. I guarantee that you won’t want to put down the latter, I’m having too much fun mixing & matching the images 🙂

One more card, featuring Pinstripe Background and yet another sentiment from Big Day – Today. The flourish frame is a part of the set and comes with several sentiments to put inside. You can find the stamped rope from Tying The Knot on this card as well.

WMS August Release Previews – Day 2

Welcome to the second day of Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release previews! Yesterday we went nautical (how did you enjoy it??) and today we’ve got your florals well covered! As when you thought it can’t get any better… tee hee!
The three sets previewed today are Two Step Sprig, Funky Flowers & Simple Sprig. All full of flowery goodness that you can mix & match to your heart’s content.

On my first card, I layered the images from Two Step Sprig and Simple Sprig, and let them spill from underneath the die cut flutterby. I absolutely adore the 3-D effect that can be achieved by layering the stamps in the first set. It should be called Three Step Sprig since there are these many layers available for the foliage, but there are plenty more options for the flowers, if you ask me! Especially if combined with the images from Funky Flowers. It’s a dangerous addiction, trying out all the options!

To make things more fun, I used the little ‘vein’ stamp that provides the third step for the leaves, as a bunch of wee sprigs with some tiny white berries, which I added with a white gel pen. I used the same pen to fill in the white parts of the flowers – I stamped them first in white ink but decided that the impression is not bold enough and so I used the pen to give it more definition. I could have white embossed those in the first place I suppose, but I was too lazy to pull out my heat gun. LOL, don’t judge 😉
The sentiment used on the card above, comes from Vintage Labels No. 25.

Another card, here I paired the images from Simple Sprig, with the sentiment from the previously released Country Labels 14 and again the ‘vein’ stamps from Two Step Sprig, this time stamped in the centers of the leaves as they’re intended to be used. I also mixed in some Funky Flowers, in the shape of the brown centers of the roses. Why not? 🙂
The shapes were cut with my Silhouette, using the corresponding cut files which will be available in the WMS store.

I used the fabulous STS#1 sketch, way to start with the great trend – tilted panels!

Finally, I let the Funky Flowers shine on this card.  Shapes cut using the corresponding cut files, layered and bent upwards for a more realistic look (and a little more dimension which you know I’m a sucker for!)

I’m joining rs#75 with the card above:
