Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #57

Oh man… all I can say is, my apologies for the delay, delivering the sketch this week! I’ve been on a very low mojo for a couple of days… being a bit stressed about some assignments, and having deadlines chasing me - not a good combination.
Hopefully very soon I’ll be able to kick back and relax, and in the meantime I’m leaving you with this deliciously layered number… 🙂

My card evolved around the gorgeous stamp set from JustRite, called Shabby Chic Labels Four.
I discovered by accident their Friday Challenge #71 “Perfect Pastels”, I was taken by the colours they served and decided to play.

I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t saturate the colours… just a tad 😉
However, I used the same shades of yellow/orange of Copics as given in the inspiration. I only didn’t have the exact pink so I replaced it with the closest match, and spiced it up with some shading.

I used the papers from three different collections by My Mind’s Eye. The stamp corresponds with S4-190 Labels Four Nestabilities®, and I also used S5-086 Bitty Blossoms for my flower and S5-096 Jar Labels for the tiny tag.

I’m always very happy to see your unique takes, so thank you for willing to share your cards with me! I can’t wait to see what you cook up this time 🙂

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 95

Welcome to the new Waltzingmouse sketch challenge! Here’s this week’s beautiful sketch:

I went for a quick & simple assembly again, grabbing some ready-made die-cuts, etc.
I combined Glitz Design’s paper and label with birds, with Melissa Frances’ die cut and Maya Road flower.
The sentiment from Rescue Remedies Additions, was stamped on a banner from S4-324 Ribbon Banners Shapeabilities.

I decided to tackle the colours of PDCC129. A very hard combo but that’s what challenges are for, right??

Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch blog, to see more from the Mischief Makers! Cheers,

Glitz Design - new collections fun

I didn’t have much time until now, to take a closer look at the Winter CHA collections from Glitz Design. They’ve been sitting on my desk, teasing me, being utterly gorgeous and all that. I’m sure you know the drill.
You may also know that shiver of excitement when you cut into a brand new sheet for the first time, if you happen to be a paper junkie like me… Boy, did it happen a lot earlier today!
Wanna see the results??

Lots of pink here. No wonder, for I used the fabby Pretty In Pink line! My favourite from it are the all-new Layered Stickers, and one of them I made a focal point on this card. Swoon!
I also used the back sides of the papers, for the die-cutting.

Glitz Design “Pretty Ink Pink” papers: Polka, Stripe, Roses, Toile
Glitz Design “Pretty Ink Pink” Layered Stickers
Glitz Design “Beautiful Dreamer” Giant Rhinestones

Other: cardstock: Fine Linen (PTI); ribbon: Stampin’ Up!;lace: Kaisercraft; Spellbinders™ dies: S4-355 Layered Flowers, S5-079 Persian Motifs

On another one, I tried a vintage/romantic look, with the help of the French Kiss papers and stamps. I really like that collage look I achieved, by stamping on one of the patterned papers.

Glitz Design “French Kiss” papers: Floral, Labels, Hats
Glitz Design “French Kiss” Clear Stamps

Other: cardstock: kraft; ink: Memento (Potter’s Clay), Distress Ink (Frayed Burlap); Spellbinders™ dies: S4-240 Lotus Border Petites; brad: Stampin’ Up!; burlap

Thank you for joining me today, and don’t forget about a Spring-themed challenge on the Glitz blog! You still have a couple of days to play.

CASE Study Challenge #88

Hi, CASE Study fans! Excuse my brief post, I’m not feeling well today (food poisoning of some sort, me thinks)
We’re entering the last week with Laurie Schmidlin, our April Muse at CASE Study, and here’s the artwork that we got to work with this time:

Apart from the gorgeous colours, I especially liked the embossed background, so that’s what I went for too. I achieved the look by gently rubbing white hybrid inkpad (Palette), over the embossed pattern (created with ES-004 Whimsy M-Bossabilities folder)
I was tired last night when I made this, so I quickly arranged some of the matching embellies, stickers etc. that I had on hand. No stamping here!

I combined some HA stamps, Cosmo Cricket washi tape (also copied from the inspiration card!) and the butterflies from two Spellbinders™ die sets: LF-006 Wonderful Wings and S5-051 Fanciful Flight.

I used this sketch from Cardabilities, slightly altered and turned on the side:

The Design Team prepared some beautiful samples today as well, click on any of the links to be taken to their blogs:

Butterfly card tutorial

Long time no see, inkers! I’ve been busy working behind the scenes, but I do have a little treat for you today. I haven’t done a tutorial in what seems like ages, and I happen to have one handy now. Ha!
Let’s call it a foretaste of the Spellbinders Mini Spring Blog Hop, that begins next Monday, April 30th and wraps up on Saturday, May 5th.

You can read upon the details IN THIS POST. I hope you’ll join us, for a chance to win some fabulous prizes and for some prime inspiration!!

It’s a long and photo-laden post, so go grab a cuppa while it’s loading 🙂
Here’s a card that I want to show you how to make:

Start by die cutting black cardstock with the second biggest label from Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® LF-246 Grand Labels Eleven.
I used black cardstock from World Win Papers.

Score in the middle.
Now for the fun part. Take a sheet of Engraving Art copper foil from Royal & Langnickel, and die cut a half of the same Grand Labels Eleven die, with your Grand Calibur®. You can do it by leaving the other half of the die uncovered by medium. Copper foil is a great stuff, and you don’t want to waste it 🙂

(the sheet is shown face down, prepared for the proper sandwich. The part we’re interested in is black)

Emboss the die cut, with GI-003 Sea Flowers Grand Impressabilities™. Again, make sure that the front is facing down.

Once you’ve got your die cut embossed, sand it to reveal the copper underlayer.

Now, take the big solid butterfly from LF-006 Wonderful Wings Shapeabilities®, and repeat the same steps as with the label: cut, emboss and sand:

Take the “Study” patterned paper from Bo Bunny‘s Weekend Market line, and die cut/emboss the matching top layer for the butterfly and half of the next smaller label.

You can see now that when you layer the butterfly, the embossed solid part peeks out from underneath the lacey wings.

Adhere the embossed layer to the card base, and trim the excess from the top. I let the black base show through a bit at the bottom, but you may wish to cover the whole card.

Now add a layer of patterned paper (I also sanded it lightly), the butterfly (I secured mine to the card with a button), and create the wording with S5-084 Girlie Grunge Labels Shapeabilities® and using the same exact techniques as for the other embossed parts.

Voila! Here are a few close-ups of the finished card…

I hope you enjoyed 🙂 See you soon, thanks for looking 🙂 xxx

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #56

**Please scroll down for The Craft’s Meow Blog Hop**

Good afternoon, friends! The sketch arrives late this week, I’ve had a hectic couple of days… However, not only I love the layout that I’m sharing but I’m also pretty satisfied with my card. Yay!

I had the best inspiration, coming in a shape of this ca-ute set of cards from Laura Craigie. I loved them so much (especially the one to the right), that I saved the link in hope that I’ll one day be able to CASE them.

Photobucket

I pulled out some stamps from WPlus9, and created the custom background with the dogwood blossoms. Anyone remembers how I shared the other day, that I’ve got a soft spot for dogwoods? Oh yes, BIG time 🙂 Same applies for the butterflies, but I’m sure I’m on the same bandwagon as most of you on that!
I also stamped the fabby background text, on the circle that I die cut with S4-114 Standard Circles LG and S4-293 Lacey Circles Nestabilities®.

A button from Buttons Galore wrapped up the card.

I’m entering this card into Our Creative Corner’s “Butterflies” challenge.
