CASE Study Challenge #93

This week at CASE Study, we’re unfortunately saying good-bye to our May Muse, Aga.
It’s been a highly rewarding month, for me as well as our Teamies and players, have we been for a treat or what?! I’m grateful for the extra week that we’re having her for, since there’s been five Thursdays in May. Hooray!!
Here’s the last portion of inspiration from Agnieszka:

Aga has a way with mists, that’s for sure. She also does collage beautifully, and that’s what I tried to convey on my card.

I used again The Craft’s Meow stamps this week
. The hexagons, bee and the sentiment come from the Thanks Bee To Thee set. I also stamped the pattern from Retro Foundations on the banner, and combined the splatter stamps from Typically Teen (stamped in pink) with some splashes of October Afternoon Sprinkler in Miss Mary Mack aqua colour.
The rest is a collage of various odds and ends from my scrap basket, a bit of glitter glue and Kaisercraft rhinestones.

A side shot:

…and here are the challenges that helped me with additional inspiration. The sketch is from Card Patterns, and I took the colours from Embellish Collage Color Trends Challenge.

The Design Team prepared some beautiful samples today as well, click on any of the links to be taken to their blogs:

Wonderful Kaylee

Hi, friends!
I’m sorry for leaving you so abruptly without updates for a few days. I was caught in the end of the month business first, but then I injured my back badly and for three days I could barely move. It’s much better now, I can sit down and do my craft thing, provided I take time to rest and walk around often…
I found myself at the beginning of a very intense month, and I already know it won’t be one rich in posts, but you know I can’t stay away from challenges for too long 🙂

Today I bring you the last minute submission for this month’s Some Odd Girl challenge, which is a sketch. Funny how having had a whole month to get this one done, I still barely made it. I’m glad I did 🙂

Along with the cute Coy Kaylee digi, I put together some Echo Park papers (This & That) and a bunch of die cuts from MME, Prima and October Afternoon, to complete this card.
I saved the Copics used aside, so that I can share:
Skin: E50, E51, E53, R20
Hair/shorts/eyes: E89, E84, E81
Socks: Y28, Y26, Y21
Dress 1/shoes: R37, R35, R32
Dress 2: YG17, YG15, YG13

Here’s the sketch:

Most probably the next time I chime in, it will be with a CASE Study post tomorrow. Until then, have a good day and thanks for visiting 🙂

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 99

Please also see my Sketchbook post and card below! Scroll down or click HERE to do so.

Happy weekend, everyone! Are you ready for a new Waltzingmouse sketch??

My interpretation is simplified, I admit that I struggled a bit with this sketch, or maybe I’m experiencing a low-mojo time. Quite possibly both.
I totally forgot about the banner too, d’uh!
I cut and embossed the label from Labels Twenty Five Nestabilities®, and stamped it with Very Vintage Labels No. 25 stamp, with Memento Tangelo ink. In it I stamped the sentiment from Compact Family.
I matted the label with a decorative oval (from Floral Ovals Nestabilities®).
The patterned paper is from Teresa Collins Fabrications, and I added the border cut with Classic Scallop Edgeabilities®.
I finished the card with a bit of a dark green twine, and a few mulberry roses.

I used the colours from the CTD193 challenge:

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #61

WOW guys… I can’t even begin to tell you, how exciting it was to see so many takes on my sketch again. You truly set my heart a flutter! Even though I do it because I love drawing sketches and sharing them, and I expect nothing in return, I feel very special to see that you enjoy these. LOVE it.
Keep them coming!!

Today I challenged myself to ‘go horizontal’. If you’re a frequent visitor, you know how much I love vertical cards; I could do hundreds more and be happy to make them all stand tall 🙂
I’m not sure how this craze started, but I do admit to having a bit of a horizontal-card-phobia… so here goes fighting the damn thing! lol

As you can see on my sample below, the sentiment treatment is totally up to you. I dressed it up on the sketch, to give you a hint of how else you can do it, but surely if you want to simplify it and use just a single sentiment block, go ahead.
It’s one of these universal sketches that work well with a multitude of stamps and themes. Don’t forget that the florals are also not required!

It’s a thoroughly Hero Arts card… I used my favourite Dogwood stamp, along with the Dots and Flowers background and the sentiment from Year Round Sentiments.
The pattern was stamped in Old Paper Distress Ink, and the dogwoods once in Memento Bamboo Leaves directly on the layer, and once on a white card. Then I coloured the blooms with Copics, cut them out, curved the edges and mounted over the layer.

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC61.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every Saturday, but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.

May Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party

There’s been quite a few new posts on my blog since yesterday, and I’d love you to check them out too, if you missed any! Scroll down beyond this post, to see my CASE Study card. Glitz Design projects, and more 🙂

A week later this month, the long awaited WMS Blog Party has arrived, and despite my extremely tight schedule I couldn’t say no to my favourite party ever!

The theme for May is felt or cozy fabrics. Here’s my offering…

I started with a background from possibly my favourite WMS background builder stamps, Nordic Winter. I stamped it in Memento Lulu Lavender on light pink card and sew the edges.
Then I cut the decorative edge in a piece of aqua cardstock, using Labels Twenty Nestabilities®, and embossed it with So Trendy M-Bossabilities™ folder.
I adhered a banner cut from Bella! paper over the pieces, after I wrapped some twine around it.
The sentiment is from Roses In Bloom, stamped in ColorBox Hunter Green.

The bloom was created with Grand Peony Creations. I die cut three of the smallest flowers from blue felt, two larger ones from corrugated cardboard, and again five larger from calico.
I bound everything together with a SU! brad, and added some florist’s stems bu tucking them under the brad. These stems are double-ended, so all I did is tuck one end in and wrap the other one around and under the brad tightly, until both ends were peeking out just about right 🙂

I finished the piece with the leaves cut out from dark green felt, with the same Grand Peony set of dies, and a couple of peacock feathers, cut and embossed with Jewel Fantasies Shapeabilities®.

I used a couple of challenges for my inspiration today; ISSC16 sketch, TSTR115 which asks for the colours from the photo + dimensional flowers, and RCC54 which also asks for Fancy Flowers.

If you too love Waltzingmouse stamps, and would like to join us, click HERE to be taken to the WMS blog, where you’ll find out the details and find more inspiration. There’s still time to play! Cheers,
