Red blooms

Another day and another post, how fun! Seems like “a card a day” to me lately, and I seriously dig it, although chances are that it’s not here to stay… or is it? 🙂

I haven’t played with Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenges for so long it’s not funny. I redeemed myself tonight, after I discovered that the theme of the current one (FTTC180) is to CASE one of the DT members. Since I was feeling like layers and a touch of elegance today, I jumped at the opportunity and chose this gorgeous number by Cindy Lawrence.
The lovely layout was what pinned me to it, but I also channeled the colours, while choosing a different image.

The flowers come from one of my all time favourite sets from Flourishes - Butterflies & Blossoms. I coloured it (of course) with Copics. The sentiment comes from another great set, Tag Lines.
The focal image was die cut with Standard Circles LG and matted with Classic Scalloped Circles LG Nestabilities®.
The border at the bottom was created with Edgeabilities®, namely Classic Scallop and Classic Decorative Inserts Three.
The patterned papers are another obvious choice, My Mind’s Eye… (Lost & Found 2 - Rosy).

Thanks for taking a peek! See you tomorrow, I’ve got a post scheduled and ready to go 🙂

Hey Kaylee

I manage my craft time quite well lately, I must say! Mojo has been kind to me, that also helps 🙂 Therefore, I’ve got another card to share, a product of today’s sweet, leisurely stamping. I like Mondays - after our usually intense weekends (and the lasts one being especially demanding), having a “day off” with Chuplet in the day care, is a blessing.

I’m playing with the sketch challenge at the Some Odd Girl blog - again making in almost at the last minute… I used the beautiful Hey Kaylee stamp. I paired the sketch with the colours of CTD202.

The papers are from Canvas Corp (big chevrons) and Teresa Collins (paper pieced dress). I also used a flag label and epoxy stickers from Glitz Design, mulberry rose and a chipboard fern from Dusty Attic.
Thanks for looking, stay sweet! xxx

Berry simple

Chances are that if you’re reading this, you might have missed my Sketchbook post below… feel free to scroll down to check it out! 😉

I was itching to do some inking tonight, but I wasn’t sure what stamps to pull out, until I stumbled upon a new challenge blog called CASology, that hosts a fruit-themed challenge this week (I’m making it in just a nick of time!)
I remembered the new Big Berries - Strawberry set from Waltzingmouse that I was so stoked to receive in the mail last week. With additional help of the ISSC26 sketch, this little CAS number came to life:

I did a little masking, in order to stack the fruit. It might not be the neatest job around, but it worked 🙂 I *love* these over-sized berries… I honestly can’t wait to see more in the series! Happy sigh.

The challenges:

See you around 🙂

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #70

Here comes another Saturday sketch on Sunday… I reckon I should rename it to “Sketchbook Weekend” to avoid any further frustration! lol
That’s what I like about it, though. The freedom of setting the rules myself, which means that I’m never forced into anything. I hope you like the laid back nature of these sketches too, where no competition comes into play, only the pure joy of creating 🙂

I started with the special Baby Shower challenge at Runway Inspired. One of the two Design Team Members, my sweet friend Cristina has recently welcomed a baby to the world, and I had a card for her in mind for a while now.

I pulled out the long neglected stamps from There She Goes - the giraffe is from Zoo-pendous,
and the stars from Bit Of Stardust. I lined up three of them and stamped diagonally across the entire layer. I used Versa Magic Wheat ink.
The sentiment is from AnnaBelle Stamps set, designed by yours truly - Baby Joy.
The giraffe was coloured with Copics, and I added Glossy Accents to its eyes / glitter glue to the spots.

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC70.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every Saturday, but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 108

I’m late with my Waltzingmouse sketch sample this week… oh noes!! I think that’s the first time it happened, I had a good excuse tho. We spent the last two days battling with a fridge that decided to die, and searching for a new one. Honestly, getting a decent model was much harder than any of us was prepared for, and it’s only because some idiot installed the overhead cabinetry in our house, three centimeters below the standard size of most fridges. Very clever. Grrr! There, I said it…
I’m happy to share that we’ve come out of this battle as winners and I’m enjoying twice as spacious fridge now… bliss! I only keep saying “don’t you dare breaking now”, lol.

Anyway, enough of the boring stuff. Let’s get on to the sketch!

I decided to change the layout to square, I made my last square card in what seems like ages ago. I had a total blast tonight, working with my new Waltzingmouse stamps, that finally arrived last week.
I pulled out the My Island set. Even though tropical themes are not my strong side (call me a freak, but I prefer snowstorm to heatwave), I’m drawn to the grungy edge of these stamps and the magnificent sentiments. Oh, how I love these!!

The scene was stamped with Memento Cantaloupe and Peanut Brittle (sky), Toffee Crunch (ground) and Espresso Truffle (trees). I also stamped the bigger palms on the patterned paper (MME Lost & Found 2 - Sunshine).
The tag is a Die-Namics die (Tag You’re It); I embellished it with a couple of MME chipboard buttons, and added some Cosmo Cricket washi tape and burlap behind it.

Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch blog, to see more from the Mischief Makers and play along! See you a bit later for a new Sketchbook Saturday sketch,

CASE Study Challenge #101

I must allow myself the joy of saying today “Hip, hip, hooray! Here’s to the next 100 challenges at CASE Study!” Our first 100 is behind us… it’s been two years and I feel a bit nostalgic 🙂
Little I knew, coming up with the innocent idea one day, that it will survive (and flourish!) for this long.
Because, quite fortunately, many of you also enjoy CASE-ing our idols as much as I do, the adventure continues and soon we’ll be knee-deep in our 2nd Anniversary celebrations.

Before it happens, there’s one more fabulous week with Kristii Lockart and with it comes the last chance for a guilt-free CASE of her artwork. Like this one, for example…

Every now and then I feel like a collage card and I chose the beauty above to aid it… isn’t that pop of colour against kraft the loveliest thing ever??
I knew that I’ll most probably want to pile up stuff on my card, so I decided on a subtler background instead, and stamped the doilies (October Afternoon Thrift Shop) without embossing, with Old Paper Distress Ink.
The embellishments are a mix of October Afternoon (journal card, die cut with PTI tag die and a glazed “Tin Pin”) and Glitz Design (pretty much all the rest). I added some PTI ribbon and baker’s twine to the lot.

I let a couple of challenges help me with this card. The (totally rocking) layout comes from rs#21, and the colours from CR84FN59. It happens so that I added some black to the mix… although not all of what you see is black - the sentiment is in fact dark brown. I failed to capture that successfully :/

The Design Team prepared some beautiful samples today as well! Click on the links below to be taken to their blogs.
