Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #79

I’m LATE! Again!! Am I kicking off another bad habit here…? Hopefully not! I know I keep saying that, but I’ve been pretty wrapped up lately. Several things have also been happening, that are affecting my ‘performance’ (lol) but I can’t spill the beans just yet… sigh.
But! Enough blabber, you’re far more interested in that little thing below, I reckon… 😉

Last week I served you a square card, this time I’m asking for a long format. Pretty simple layout, with an emphasis on pretty background and a sentiment separated in two.Of course, if you wish to use standard shape, feel free! It’s a ‘free for all’ fun 🙂

I had SO much fun making this card… I should start by saying that the idea behind it, started with the CFC72 challenge, “Toot Your Own Horn”.
They ask to use our own blog header as an inspiration, and I thought it’s a prime idea. What I had in mind straight away, is stamping in bold black on a subtle patterned paper and then do simple colour blocking as it shows in the circle. It’s a dimensional, fabric-like effect that I was striving to achieve. Down to the little bits of background, showing through the coloured flowers…

I wasn’t quite sure if it’s the way to go, but once I started putting the elements together, it looked pretty cool. I used Etched Flowers from Hero Arts for the background, and I stamped them over My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline DP. Then I coloured some flowers in, with light shades of Copics.

I transferred the horizontal element - blog title, into sentiment strip. I stamped the phrase from PTI Big & Bold Wishes, in PTI Fresh Snow and Fresh Ink Provincial Gray. I also used the dots from PTI A Little Argyle, to mimic the lime coloured pattern in the logo.
I thought I’d decorate the inside as well:

I used theactual patterned paper, for the card base, hence the inside is decorative as well. In an insert, I stamped the flowers again in grey ink, and the verse from PTI Out On A Limb Sentiments set. The flourish is from Mat Stack 1.

- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.

Jay Gee’s Nook - Feel better

Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope yours started (or will soon) great! It’s another busy weekend here, and once I’m off writing this, I’m ready for some house cleaning and then taking care of my upcoming assignments. They never seem to end 🙂
I’m also planning to finish setting up my For Sale page, something that I’ve been working on for a couple of days. I’m looking forward to emptying my craft space from the surplus stuff… I can’t believe how much there is of it! This time, when I say ‘stay tuned’, I mean it. lol
Anyhoo, who’s ready for another Jay Gee’s Nook post??

I’m featuring the Raindrops stamp set from Jane’s Doodles.
What I didn’t know is that it was illustrated by Mariana Grigsby. Cool beans! Love that girl 🙂

I stamped the clouds in four different shades of grey. I pulled out all grey inks I had and picked the shades that would stand out enough against each other. They are Iced Spruce Distress Ink, Memento London Fog, Provincial Gray Fresh Ink and Color Box Mix’d Media Pewter.
I sponged several Versa Color inks on the umbrella, but I spiced up the colours afterwards, with a bit of watercolour pencil work. Then I applied a coating of Glossy Accents on top. I know, impossible to tell… 🙁
The label is a WPlus9 die, Label Layers 5.

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 117

Well, as I usually would say at this time of the week, it’s high time for a new Waltzingmouse Sketch! Here’s what’s been cooked up for us this time:

Another cool one, huh? My sample…

I used Heirloom Patterns for the background, stamped in Memento Sweet Plum on PTI Autumn Rose CS. The label was stamped with Very Vintage Labels No. 10 and die cut with corresponding Nesties.
The sentiment comes from Say It Loud.
I used some other dies too, French Pastry Doily from Cheery Lynn, and the butterflies from PTI and Cristina Re (the latter is a punch, actually).

I also made use of a colour inspiration this time, which comes from PDCC151:

CASE Study Challenge #110

The time has come to say farewell to another CASE Study Muse, my dear blogging buddy and a magnificent paper crafter, Torico! I’m going to have serious withdrawals :/
We’re working with this gorgeous card this week:

I was taken with the classy layout and the strong focal point. I knew as soon as I picked this card, that I’m going to use the Angel Mail stamp set from There She Goes (illustrated by Torico), thus I opted for a muted colour palette and a touch of elegance. It’s such a magnificent set, I especially love the sentiments.

The card base is PTI Spring Moss, on which I stamped the sentiment (in Memento Pistachio) and the Waltzingmouse Vintage Labels No. 25 (in Toffee Crunch).
On the PTI Fine Linen CS, I stamped the Hero Arts Fabulous Flourish in Versamark, and embossed with Stampendous Kaleidoscope EP. It’s a fabulous iridescent powder, that sparkles in the many colours of the rainbow, when seen from different angles. It’s hard to capture that effect on the photo…

Tuesday Morning Sketches Guestie - Week 4

It’s the last week for me, to Guest Design for Tuesday Morning Sketches. Thank so much ladies, for the fun time 🙂 Here’s the newest sketch:

TMS is sponsored this week, by There She Goes! I had a great time, revisiting these great stamps. I decided on inking up one of my all-time favourite sets, Spread Your Wings.

The chevron paper is from Canvas Corp. The die cut label, from Spellbinders Orchard Harvest Tags & Accents. The butterfly was coloured with Copics and touched with a little Smooch Pearlized Top Coat.
The rest include some washi tape, Kaisercraft ribbon bloom, clear rhinestones and grosgrain ribbon.

Here’s my inspiration, The Ribbon Reel challenge #37:

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #78

Eeeep! I’ve been caught up in the previous week’s busy schedule, and then Zuzia’s birthday yesterday (which was great!!), and I run out of time for the new sketch. In a quick stamping affair, I whipped up both the sketch and card this Monday morning, a delicious CAS design with plenty of possibilities.

The idea is to have something trailing down your card. You name it - butterflies, birds, fish, geometric designs like I did… (hot air balloons? clouds? flowers? he possibilities are virtually endless here).

The stamps used, all come from PTI sets; dots from Boy Basics: Simple Circles, and the sentiment is combined from two different pieces from two sets: Daffodils & Mega Mixed Messages.

I helped myself to this fantastic inspiration, Stripe + Polka Dot Color Trends Challenge:
