Happy Birthday, Judith!!

Well, figure me this… it proves to be such a busy Easter, blog-wise especially! Here’s the second post for the day, make sure you don’t miss my Sketchbook Saturday post from earlier! Today the Jay Gee’s Nook Design Team, as well as some friends from the blogland, joined forces to wish Judith (the owner of the store) a very happy birthday.
Have you hopped here from Laura’s blog? Fantastic! If you’d like to join in the fun, please start at the JG’s Nook blog where you’ll find a master list of participants and the details of the sweet prize offering.

I hope your big day rocks, Judith!!
Here’s a little card I made for her, using the Just My Type Die & Stamp set from My Favorite Things, Teresa Collins papers, some washi tape and Studio Calico embellies. The little postmark stamp comes from a Glitz Design Happy Travels stamp set, the butterfly trail is a stamp from There She Goes Bee Happy set.

There is a prize package offering, for one lucky blog hop participant! In order to win, you must leave a comment on the JG’s Nook blog post by Thursday, 3rd of April, 6pm (Australian EST).
Judith has a special going on in the store as well, giving everyone 20% off products. Hurry up though, the offer is valid for 1 week only, and ends on the 6th of April! Be sure to use the code EASTER.

Here’s the CTS#21 sketch, that I used:

Enjoy hopping with us, and once again, Happy Easter!! Your next and final destination is JG’s Nook blog.

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #93

A (not so warm today, even up here!) hello, crafty friends! First of all… enjoy your holidays!!

—————————————————

I do have a new sketch to share… along with another change in the way I take my photos… I thought I better give you a fair warning, before you come asking first!
I’m going to stick to this one for a while, hopefully.
Goodness knows I’m well aware how unprofessional it is, to surprise you with one change after another & make you doubt whether you indeed came to the same blog… ugh. Sounds right?
I’ve been trying to play around with different props lately, but apart from the fact that I haven’t figured out what’s best for my new photo setting yet, my camera is just not up for the game and I guess I have to stick to the basics, make the most of them in order not to embarrass myself any more… lol
I hope that one of these days I’ll gift myself with a new camera and some decent lens. In the meantime, hope you’ll enjoy the new style better than the last few (dreadful) photos 🙂

So… on to the sketch! It’s yet another inspired one, this time it’s this amazing little card that I pinned a couple of days ago. Not only I adore the style, but I was also happy to finally find a horizontal layout that I find tempting enough to tackle! I’m sure you’ve noticed my obsession with vertical cards; I’m working on it but it’s damn hard to resist the temptation…

A fair mix of products here… October Afternoon paper, dies from Cheery Lynn / Memory Box / Simon Says, Prima blooms, chipboard pieces, washi. I’m still on a pastel kick, although I couldn’t resist to make my pastels just a little bit brighter and more defined. I like my colours to shine.

—————————————————

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC93.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every other Saturday night (American EST time ~ or around mid-day Sunday Melbourne time), but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.

Jay Gee’s Nook - desktop calendar

Hi there! If you’re one of the “always too late buying a calendar(s) for the year” gals like myself, this post might be just for you! Today on the Jay Gee’s Nook blog, I’m sharing a simple yet stylish desktop calendar template, customized with WPlus9 Chantilly Trim stamps. With a printer, a few sheets of cardstock & some ink you can go from this:

…to this in no time!

I’m sharing the printable template at the end of this post, in both Word and PDF formats, if you’d like to give it a go yourselves. This is something my hubby whipped up the other day, and the pages you see below, I’m now using myself to write down my crafty deadlines!
The file will print out as three A4 pages, with four months fitting on one page. All you need to do is cut each page in four, to separate the months. Unless you want to do what I did: layer each month with a piece of cardstock - then you’ll need to cut 8 mm or less from both the top and left edge of each month, to make up for the nice border you see above (the cardstock mats are cut to A6 size - 1/4 of A4 sheet - and so will be the month sheets after cutting your printed pages down).
Please note, that the template represents metric measurements, so those of you who use Imperial measuring systems will need to adjust the template accordingly.
I took three shades of cardstock (retired SU! colours) and after cutting each of them in four, I had twelve mats ready to mount the months on. Then I simply combined different stamps from the WPlus9 set, to create four designs stamped alternately.

Now the little calendar pages are ready to be popped on your desk, together or one at a time, or bound together with a hole punch and some ribbon/twine. You can, of course, customize them in many ways, with different stamps and embellishments, they’d make a cute gift!

WPlus9 Mood Board, pastel birdies

So, I thought I’d take a bite at the super delicious Monday Mood Board #7 at the WPlus9 blog… plenty of pastels and Spring-themed inspiration around lately, I’m truly loving it and it doesn’t bother me at all that we’re going into Autumn here in Oz. What kind of Autumn is it anyway… sigh! I miss piles of fallen leaves crunching under my feet in the park, the colour frenzy and the smell of earth after the rain. Well, at least the last one is something we’re getting every now and then 😉

I took the fresh colour palette as the base of my card, and made the birdies from Love Birds a focal point. Notice how I gave them wings, made from the single solid heart/leaf from the same set. One more fantastic use for that stamp! The peach banner was also stamped with WPlus9, namely Design Basics: Backgrounds I.

I let myself combine this challenge with another colour inspiration, Tuesday Trigger: Pastel Pretties. The layout for my card comes from rs#56.

Hope it tickles 🙂

CASE Study Challenge #134

We’re at our last challenge for March, at CASE Study , and with that comes the fact that there will be no more inspiration from Julie Ebersole beyond this point… sniff! Still, we’re ending the month with one of my favourite cards from Julie, one that inspired my work many times before. Impeccable design, perfect in every way!

Not only the colours are spot on, the shapes she chose compliment each other so well, and the placement of all including the sentiment is well thought through. I think it’s pretty obvious how this design inspired my card. There’s a horizontal design element (I chose subtle chevron) and a pop of colour provided by feathers instead of foliage. The card is wonderfully shimmery, I stamped most of the elements with Brilliance inks.

March 2013 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Hi again! I already shared some PTI love on my blog earlier today (check out my previous post here) so I’ll make it short & sweet this time! I decided to play with PTI March Blog Hop, with the theme of ‘sequins’. I remember hinting about an upcoming trend several months ago, but I swear I didn’t see THIS coming… sequins are everywhere!! Crazy, I tell you… not that I’m complaining though, I think they’re super cute 🙂

I pulled out The Sweet Life again, with much joy. Added the flourish from Fancy Flourishes set, for a classy mix.

Additional inspiration came in the shape of ric#32:

Thanks for looking!! xxx
