Lovely Layers card

Hi there! Missed me much? Just kidding, I know I wasn’t gone for too long :)
I’ve been in a creative stupor for the last two days, therefore nothing much happening craft-wise except from maybe some mindless fiddling with the blog. I thought I’d use brute force and try to squeeze out any mojo at all, being a believer in the fact that the more you use it, the easier it’s to be unearthed the next time. Well, maybe it’s not always the case… *wink*
Another one of my ‘fresh’ PTI stamp sets was a perfect starting point, and with the help of a couple of challenges, I managed something decent enough :)

So, Lovely Layers is what’s on offer today. I’ve been seeing way too many pretties made with these stamps, not to use the first opportunity to get them in my own hands.
(for those of you who think “well, what’s the big deal, then?”, let me remind you that PTI has utterly ridiculous international postage costs and it makes it virtually impossible to order from them. Unless of course, I rely on friends’ kindness who can ship them to me in a slightly cheaper way. It’s still pretty expensive though, so ordering once-twice a year is as good as it gets…)

Anyhoo! They stamp beautifully so I’m a happy chicken :) I used a graph patterned paper from Teresa Collins for the background, and cut the opening in both PTI die & PP to reveal the Ocean Tides cardstock underneath. The layers on the flower add some delightful dimension.

Here are the challenges that I helped myself to today… (plus the Emphasize the Negative Challenge in the Moxie Fab World)

I took some photos of the craft room today, so methinks the long promised craft room tour is going to commence soon. Until then (or until whatever comes first, my scheduling is all over the place these days!), crafty friends!

Jay Gee’s Nook & a crazy 10 Min Craft Dash

Hi friends, I’m here to share another Jay Gee’s Nook card with you! It has some Paper Smooches goodness on it, including the super adorable Loopy Leaf die and a Chit Chat stamp set. The first was cut out of green felt, and the latter shaded with G94 / G82 Copic markers.
Simply Scallops Medium Die-Namics were used to cut the funky cork sheet border. The patterned paper comes from My Mind’s Eye Alphabet Soup collection - an oldie but goodie :)

It seems pretty crazy, but this card is actually an entry in 10 Minute Craft Dash #14. I made it with mere 4 seconds to spare, but boy am I ever trying this trick again! I learnt the hard way that layers are only for super brave and super fast, in case of attempting to put those together in such a short time… I’ve had my supplies literally flying across the room and only by a stroke of luck, all of my fingers are still there… lol! Next time I should think about returning to the safe one-layer 😛

Traditionally, let’s see what I started with! (the pink button’s not there yet, I only had it added when I realized that my card has no pink whatsoever. Ouch!

Pop in to the Jay Gee’s Nook blog for more from the Design Team! Thanks for stopping by :)

No stamps!

Super quick card on my blog tonight! I decided to have a craft session but I’m rather sleepy after another intense day, I only wanted something that would take me little time to make and share. I saw the new CAS-ual Fridays challenge (No Stamps, graphics at the end of the post) and knew this is going to work perfectly. I have this purty Kaisercraft die-cut pack, full of yummy blooms and phrases which don’t need much at all to shine…

I took the roses and the ‘love’ word from it, and paired it with a Cosmo Cricket sticker and a mason jar die-cut from a different embellishment pack by a no-name company that I picked in the craft store the other day. I {heart} the simplicity of this card and how it still packs a punch :)

As you can see, I also used a CTS#20 sketch. Well, I interpreted the idea rather freely, but I think it makes sense, huh? Tag in a pocket ~ flowers in a jar… ?? :)
Thanks for stopping by! xx

CASE Study Challenge #133

Guess what? It’s CASE Study time!! It’s safe to assume that we’re all more than ready for some Julie Ebersole (who doesn’t love some Julie?), so let’s get cracking! Today’s inspiration card makes me ridiculously happy. Check it out:

I can’t look at this card without colour blocking running through my head. That, plus bold patterns - how cool are these?? I opted for the overlapping speech bubbles (Silhouette cut files), as my version of the scene that Julie created, and to make things more funky, I took the trusty splatter stamp from The Craft’s Meow and stamped some randomly, using cream ink. The little birdie nested in the heart, is an October Afternoon sticker. CA-UTE! Oh, and do you see the glitter paper peeking from under ‘hello’?

I *might* have just created this card, with the Speech Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World as well…

Click on the links below, for more inspiration. We’ve got one sad announcement this week, unfortunately. Christina MacLaren stepped down from the Team and we won’t see her playing along from today onwards. I’m missing her already…

Pubs, pubs…

Good afternoon, folks! I finally made it today… organized my recent publications into another long-overdue post! Let’s start with a major WOOT, something that made me truly happy when it arrived at my door… March / April issue of Paper Crafts magazine, with my Moxie Fab Challenge winning card in it! This is my first time with PC! (looking forward to submitting but I always lack the time…)

Last month you could also see my “So Blessed” card, in the issue of Australian Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine. It was featured as a part of a “Working with Die-cuts” feature, and you can find it on page 31.

Lastly, also in Australian Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft but this time the current issue, I have four cards. These two, featuring Flourishes Berry Sweet stamp set in a Stamper’s Challenge feature (home photos):

…a Mother’s Day card:

…and a sketch card! (again, home photo)

Please refer to the hard copies, for the details on all of the above :)
Thanks for looking! xoxo

The sweet life

Well, you’ve certainly been busy bees, checking around my new place, and I appreciate your interest tremendously! Seriously guys, you rock BIG time. The website is still a work in progress (me & hubby have been setting it up by ourselves, apart from the template that gave us a base to start from), so my apologies for any glitches that you’re getting and thanks for your patience! Any feedback you may have is priceless, there’s no way we can test how things work on every device & browser. So far we’ve managed to pin down a mobile-friendly version and the archives. I also noticed that the website graphics get a bit wonky when using an older version of Internet Explorer (namely, 8), but I hope all of you guys are well ahead with yours :)

If you haven’t yet, why not check out the brand new Random Acts of Creativity Facebook page! I moved the Networked Blogs syndication there and I’m planning to engage with you more, through discussions & fun perks.

That’s enough of the boring stuff (are you still with me??), so let’s get cracking with today’s card! I must confess that:
a) I was wildly happy to receive a long awaited PTI order. I haven’t done anything in this matter for long months and now I’m finally the owner of some of the most coveted sets that had me drooling for a long time.
b) I received them over two weeks ago (or was it three?) and it was only tonight that I finally broke into the first of the sets. Don’t judge.

That being said, after a bit of happy inking I can totally relate to the sentiment on this card. I’m so head over heels for these roses!!

I played with Deconstructed Sketch (DS93). Long time since I last used one of these, this one spoke to me the moment I saw it.

Hope it tickles :) Cheers inky friends, see you tomorrow! xxx
