Love, always

I’m not gonna lie, this card did not come easy. Or more accurately yet, the decision to sit down to it had to be partly forced, otherwise I’d surely dwell in a non-crafty hiatus for a couple more days.
The last week was so off the routine, I found myself thrown off and in a slightly nervous haze. Mum & dad first, then both excitement and a bit of anxiety while counting the days (hours?) for the bubs to come (still waiting!!), and now also Chuplet’s unexpectedly sudden, viral sickness that keeps us on our toes. Admittedly not the best inspiration for crafting…
However, you would know me well enough to suspect, that I’m not going to let it interfere with the idea of being actively crafty, too easily. Even a smallish effort, while done often enough, prevents stagnation that may steal mojo for weeks on end. Well, that’s my personal belief anyway, that I stick to it in my comfortably mad ways 🙂

So, what I did it is put on a good documentary on Youtube, find a piece of inspiration to have a starting point (Monday Mood Board #11, graphics below), and let my hands play while my mind wanders 🙂

What I love about this card, is that although it has a scrappy feel, there’s an adequate amount of stamping too, and both of these elements blend nicely. I used a whopping 6 WPlus9 stamp sets, plus one from The Craft’s Meow. Yeppers!

I went out on a limb with the wee addition of red, I guess I just can’t force myself into a completely neutral card after all… that pop of colour adds so much to the design 🙂

See you later, peeps 🙂

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #95

Hello, sweet things! Gosh, we’re inevitably nearing the 100th sketch! I will have to start thinking about the plans for beyond that number, that I hinted on several weeks ago. Guest Designers, perhaps? 🙂
Today I’m leaving you with another brief post, I’m afraid. I’m in my 40th week of pregnancy, and it certainly feels like it. I feel tired and grumpy, magnified by the fact that we’re all still battling the sadness after mum & dad’s departure. To top it up, Zuzia went down with severe flu symptoms and has been running a high fever since last night. Life keeps us from being bored, that’s for sure… *wink*
That being said, I’d like to thank wholeheartedly everyone who left such sweet and thoughtful comments, under my recent scrapbook post. Your concern and love really kept me going, when my mood hit the bottom. I’m blessed to have such wonderful online friends 🙂

Here’s a new sketch:

…and my sample card:

The lovely as always inspiration, Tuesday Trigger: Pretty Little Petits Fours.

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC95.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every other Saturday night (American EST time ~ or around mid-day Sunday Melbourne time), but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.

Jay Gee’s Nook - That’s what I’m talking about

Hi there! Weekend is upon us and it means that it’s time for a Jay Gee’s Nook post! I’m on a Mama Elephant kick again, hence the choice of stamps for today’s card - Smitten & Say What. I stamped the feathers from the first set, in both white and gold inks (WPlus9 and Brilliance, respectively), using either one of these or over-stamping the white ones with gold, in a slightly offset position.

The badge was stamped using Versa Magic Aquatic Splash and I added the sentiment from the latter set, in Memento Espresso Truffle. The strip of tissue tape to the right, belongs to 7 Gypsies.

Tune in for some more crafty goodness, by visiting the Jay Gee’s Nook blog! See you later, have a wonderful weekend 🙂

Because I miss them. A scrapbook.

Cheers, friends! Uhm… I’m going to get personal in this post. I barely ever do it but this is one of the times that sharing means healing (if only just a little bit), I hope you don’t mind.
It’s not much of a secret how much I miss my parents, who sadly flew back to Poland a couple of days ago, after spending an extensive time with us. It was all too easy to get used to having them around, and especially hard to re-adjust to the emptiness they left behind, the lack of cheerful buzz that they created along with Zuzia. I didn’t expect it to hit me this much, but it’s also the unfortunate timing that weighed extra heavily on everyone. I’m now nearly in my 40th week of pregnancy and expect the little bubs any day now. I’ve been on an emotional roller-coaster, partly because of the raging hormones; the excitement of the upcoming big day and at the same time the painful awareness that two of the most important people will miss it by just a couple of days.
Through the last five months we watched Zuzia get to know, and fall in love with them. Turn from the stubborn and a untrusting girl with no skills in communicating in their native language, to being totally devoted to her grandparents (and the other way around) and speaking with them freely in Polish. It’s a-ma-zing what half a year can do…
The bond they created is unspeakable. She cried when we said our good-byes at the airport. I can see she can’t quite come to terms with the lack of them around yet, either. And we can’t give her answers as to when she’ll see them again - travelling across the globe is a pricey business… Thanks goodness for Skype.

I sat down this morning, browsing through 100’s of photos that we took, and I stumbled across one that captured my heart. This layout happened shortly afterwards.

I’m sorry for the lack of supply list; as it usually happens with my layouts, I used a gazillion of bits & pieces from different collections & manufacturers and it would take me well into the night, trying to list all of them. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions!

See you tomorrow, for a JG’s Nook card, and then the next installment of Sketchbook Saturday. Enjoy the weekend ahead and thank you for joining me today, for this special post <3

April 2013 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

This is my second post today, guys! Check out the CASE Study post HERE.
I love the theme of the April PTI Blog Hop, and I decided to join in. I don’t make use of this trend nearly enough, tilting is cool and looks gorgeous! Especially love how the sentiments look placed diagonally. So, here I am 🙂

I was initially after plain stripes, but could find none in my stash whatsoever (hmmm… not good), so I reached for the corduroy motif stripes from the Waltzingmouse Off Beat Backgrounds stamp set instead. This is the only stamped, non-PTI contribution to this card. The rest is a mix of 5 different PTI sets.

The light is a bit wonky today, hence the card base and fern leaves appear to be in a shade of chartreuse, while in fact they’re Fine Linen. You’ve got to believe my word for it 🙂

Hope you like, thanks for looking!! xxx

CASE Study Challenge #138

Hi, guys! I’m feeling big, heavy & tired, plus there’s a ton of stuff going on at the moment since my parents are leaving tomorrow (as in when I’m scheduling this post; when it launches, they’re not here with us any more 🙁 ), so I’m making this one really short…
This week at CASE Study we’re featuring a beautiful card by JJ Bolton below. It’s a bittersweet challenge, since it’s her last time with us. We all had so much fun, right??

Ever since I found out about The Wonder Of Watercolor challenge in the Moxie Fab World, I knew that I’m going to give it another try, after yesterday’s affair with Memento markers. Namely, pull out the actual watercolours and brush. I took a piece of watercolour paper, white embossed Hero Arts feathers on it, painted over and added the sentiments from the same Mama Elephant stamp set.

I dig the messy look.

Click on the links below, for more inspired creations! Hope you’ll find a minute to join us as well. Visit CASE Study for the whole package 🙂
