May Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party

Gosh! I left you post-less for quite a while, didn’t I? I’ve been doing my best to finish my contribution to this month’s WMS Blog Party but between taking care of Julka and a trip to in-laws, I’m making it under the wire! It didn’t help that it was an especially intense evening, with bubs not wanting to let me go under the threat of crying, until we realized that she’s actually having tummy ache and gave her gripe water. It helped! Yay! …hopefully. Fingers crossed, ’cause I do want to finish this post some time before dawn, lol

Anyway. The theme this month is Teacher Appreciation. It’s the subject I don’t normally tackle, since my kids are not school age yet. However, Zuzia does have a fantastic carer at the family day care she attends, and I saw that as a great opportunity to create a sweet little ensemble for her, to let her know how much I appreciate everything she does. The set consists of a gift card holder, a mini pillow box for some sweet treats and a matching card. I used extensively here, the oldie but goldie Fine & Dandy paper collection by My Mind’s Eye.

The gift card holder was cut with the PTI die and decorated with the label cut with Spellbinders Labels 18 and stamped with Vintage Labels 18, Eat Cake (flowers), and Fancy Phrases (sentiment).

The pillow box was cut using my Silhouette Cameo, decorated with some baker’s twine and a little rose.

For the card, I cut an apple from cork paper (PTI die), and stamped the label (also from Vintage Labels 18) around it. I decorated it with a wood veneer star (Studio Calico) and added the same baker’s twine as above, piercing the holes just inside the sides of the label.

I’m entering CFC101 with this card…

…plus The Gift Packaging Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, with the whole ensemble 🙂
You can check out the rest of the submissions to the Blog Party, at the WMS BLOG. Thanks for stopping by, wish me luck with getting a wee bit of “time off” tomorrow so that I can prepare the post I had in mind for tomorrow! 🙂

CASE Study Challenge #141

I can’t believe it was exactly one week ago, that I was enjoying the first hours with Julka! It’s been a challenging week for sure, she’s a demanding little creature whose motto is that life tastes best in mommy’s arms. As in, non stop. LOL
It’s been a small success that I (roughly) managed to stay on top of my blog commitments as well, considering that all my plans I has about working ahead of schedule, failed miserably. Apart from the constant tiredness that I became quite close friends with, I’ve been really enjoying the fact that I can still have the best of both worlds, and while those brief inky/blogging moments give me a powerful relaxing tool, I’m still spending a plethora of time with my now extended family, trying to focus on all the good things rather than the temporary inconveniences 🙂

Today I’m traditionally sharing a new CASE Study card and challenge, a Maile Belles - inspired CAS piece. Here’s the inspiration:

…and my interpretation. WPlus9 birdie die, combined with the simple sentiment, also from WPlus9. A very simple design, inspired by this little cutie of a pillow I found on Pinterest earlier today. Eeeep! Adorable, huh?

The cheerful colours I settled down for instead, were in turn inspired by Monday Mood Board #12.

Mama Elephant May Stampede!

Hi, inkers! Today I have the immense pleasure, to join my friend Kryssi and her talented DT, in showcasing the Mama Elephant May stamp release! Woo-hoo! So much goodness this month, be prepared for some serious enabling - I’m sure everyone’s projects will be outstanding 🙂

Welcome to the Mama Elephant May Design Team blog hop! Our May release is now live and available for purchase in the store: www.mamaelephant.com.

To celebrate the new release, Mama Elephant is giving away 3 gift certificates worth $20.00 each to 3 lucky people! Winners will be chosen at random from the collective blogs in the Stampede. Winners will be announced on the blog on May 19th.

Here’s how to qualify to win (leave a separate comment for each):

1. Leave a comment on this blog post
2. Become a follower of the Mama Elephant blog
3. Like/share us on Facebook:https://facebook.com/mamaelephant
4. Follow/tweet us on Twitter:https://twitter.com/heymamaelephant

My project features my favourite sets from the lot, Filigree and Soiree. I took the sentiment only from the latter, and made the amazing, dainty doily from Filigree stand out on this nautical-inspired card.

To achieve the dimensional effect, I white embossed the doily on a piece of baby blue & navy cardstock each, and then trimmed both so that the images line up. Then I cut the navy cardstock into 1 cm wide strips and adhered over the base, making sure the images overlap. A fun flair button from America Crafts and a few silver sequins, finish the look.

Be sure to visit the rest of the design team’s blogs and leave your comments as you move along for more chances to win!

Be happy

I must admit that it wasn’t the most relaxing couple of days, pretty harsh sleep-wise and with hubby also down with cold, it’s been extra harder. However grumpy I may get at the end of the day, it takes very little to remind me that all the tiredness is just a minor obstacle. One look into my daughter’s gorgeous little face cures it all 🙂
Little moments of me-time that I catch in the meantime help a lot as well, and I managed to have just that this evening, a wee little inky session that resulted in this card:

This is my loose take on the beautiful colous palette of PDCC181, as well as retrosketches #63:

It’s time for me to catch some sleep now. I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun Guest Design post. Later, peeps! xx

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #96

Long time, no see!! Surely you suspect why the absence, even if you didn’t catch a glimpse via FB or Twitter, of what’s been happening in the Chupa household in the last few days… there’s a good reason for that, my most beautiful Mother’s Day present, little Julia.

Born on the 9th, weighing a healthy 3,7 kg, she brought a whole new meaning to my life, lots of joy and cuteness that I could just gobble up. I’m So. In. Love.
She will have all the right to steal as much of my time as she pleases, but in fact she’s been a really good girl and I’m on a good way to recovery from a C-Section and tiredness. Tonight I decided on a short me-time a.k.a. craft session, just fitting it in nicely between the feeds and the hard earned sleep time. It’s all good… I feel so blessed 🙂

So, without further delay, let me show you a new sketch! I opted for a bit more traditional, layered approach. Not necessarily something I’d fall for if I was given to work with, but since I started with the card first and drew the sketch on the basis of the finished piece (my usual method), that’s what I ended up with. How do you like it?

I based the card loosely on the inspiration from Cloud 9 May Blog Hop. Apart from the floral theme, I really was going for the lovely colour palette but ended up with mint & coral instead of aqua & pink. Close enough? lol

There’s not much of WPlus9 here, but I did let the sentiment from Blanket Stitched Blooms shine. Love this font. Gosh, love this whole set, really. I wanted to use it way more extensively, but I figured that I’m strongly on the scrappy side tonight and had to succumb to the magic of my embellies instead 😛

—————————————————

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC96.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every other Saturday night (American EST time ~ or around mid-day Sunday Melbourne time), but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.

CASE Study Challenge #140

Hi, guys! I’ve got to say, first and foremost… by the time this post launches, I’ll be holding my baby in my arms! It’s all progressed quite quickly in the last 24 hours, I was meant to be scheduled for Monday but decided it’s high time and there’s no point waiting… so, tomorrow is the day!! I’m pretty darn excited, a bit anxious, quite busy too trying to speed up things before shooting off the house early in the morning. We will be “grounded” at the hospital for 2-3 days but I’ll have some internet access (hopefully) so that I can chat to my mum & dad in Poland and give them first glimpses of their grandkid 🙂
All of that being said, here comes a very modest contribution to this week’s CASE Study challenge. We’ve got Maile Belles for our Muse and this particular card of hers is something I couldn’t pass on when choosing the inspiration pieces for May…

The inspiration is obvious, methinks. Tone-to-tone stamping on kraft, with a modest pop of colour. I inked up some of my new WPlus9 stamps, Quilt Prints and Fresh Baked. They stamp like a dream and I can’t wait to play with them some more, whenever time allows 🙂

I’m linking this tag to The Gift Tag Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
