CASE Study Challenge #154

Hello, I hope you’re geared up to conquer another CASE Study challenge! We’re serving this beauty by our Muse, Jennifer McGuire:

I had rainbow immediately on my mind, and I reached for a cutting file & my Cameo, to cut this purdy Moroccan background for me. Instead of doing endless runs with different coloured cardstock and ending up with lots of wasted paper, I coloured the pieces with my Copics as I desired. I was applying the colour as I was picking each of the pieces up from the sticky sheet, and then gluing it in the spaces between the lattice. I also did some ‘traditional’ die cutting, I used Die-Namics for the phrase and applied some shimmery colour to the bottom of it, with gold leaf pen.

Check out the blogs below for the Design Team’s takes on the challenge, or visit CASE Study to see it all happening in one place.

My cup of tea

I had a bit of an inky play this evening, and I decided to play with a couple of challenges. The card that I’m sharing is inspired by Tuesday Trigger: Now That’s My Cup of Tea! and Seize The Sketch #2.

My approach to the sketch is rather loose, I turned it 90 degrees counter-clockwise and I stamped the sentiment directly in place of a banner. I’ve got the star(s) in place, though! lol
As for the Trigger, I was much more direct. Or hugely inspired by the design on a cup, which I tried to recreate with flower stamps on hand. I felt too lazy to dig through all of my stash in search for the perfect fit but I think this one isn’t too bad either :)

Hope you like it!

My smiles begin with you

Hi there! A really quick post… I’m sick and feeling so bleh (some sort of a bacterial infection) so no telling stories tonight. However, this page has been waiting for posting forever and I can’t sleep, so I thought I’d share.

My two munchkins :) I used Instagram photos and neither my phone camera is brilliant, nor is my printer. Hence the quality… :/

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #103

Hello! I have to start by apologizing for the late post. It’s been a classic “one of those”… Considering that I’m already running overtime writing this, how about I get straight to the merit! I hope you like my sketch, it’s based around what’s made to be an ombre / gradient background and I’d really love to see your takes on this! Remember that it’s not only inks / cardstock & dies that can help you achieve that effect, if you love paper like I do then you probably have an ombre sheet of paper tucked somewhere too :) That would be my next choice!
(of course, feel free to do whatever else you wish with that panel… it’s only a suggestion)

Today I have a super talented and the sweetest friend helping me with a sample - Stacey from Stacey’s Stamping Stage! Pop in her blog to see what she cooked up!
Here’s what I did… an ultimate one layer! YAY! I masked the rectangle and sponged it with distress inks, flicked some water over it and stamped the branch (Memory Box) and sentiment (Technique Tuesday). I also added a couple of tiny pearls to the branches.

I was inspired by some additional challenges. I took a pretty literal inspiration in Therese’s card in the Muse Challenge #30. Then I stumbled upon the latest CAS-ual Fridays challenge with the perfectly fitting colours. Funny stuff, I did want to do the inked background from the beginning, without looking for additional inspiration, but these two just made working on this card extra awesome :)

If you would like to play along:

- You’re kindly asked to save the sketch image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- Share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget below, so that I can come and check it out!
Perks:
- A new sketch is posted every other Saturday night (8pm Australian EST, 6am American EST, and the link widget is open for two weeks. However, you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section and I’ll pop in to see it.
- I’ll be inviting one person who uses my sketch, to join me for the next one! I’ll be also highlighting the entries that caught my eye, on my Facebook page.
- Every now and then, I will also invite an inky friend to join me as well, for an extra dose of inspiration.

Nautical

I’m savouring the nautical craze… who would’ve known?? Why yes, I’ve done some sailing in the past and enjoyed it (I even thought about getting a patent for myself), but before the trend hit full steam I never felt an urge to put a helm or a ship on my card. So there you have it, a happily converted lover of all things nautical! :)
Of course it does help that I LOVE some of the core elements of the trend… (stripes!!)

I’m playing with Monday Mood Board #18 and Tuesday Trigger: I’m Craving Navy today.

I didn’t get any of the WPlus9 new release (but I can’t wait to get those gorjuss feathers in my inky paws!!), so I improvised with some universal sets and added the helm cut with my Silhouette. I loved the shape so much that I designed one more card around it, but more on it later :)

The shapes were cut from the came off-white cardstock, it created a subtle and disobliging look. I added another shape from the same cut file set - an anchor - to the insert of the card as you can see above.
The other card, more ‘scrappy’ in design; I followed the MOJO306 sketch. Since I don’t do “rigid” layers any more these days, it’s been very long since I reached for one of their sketches. This one’s quite adorable, though :)

This card still fits the Trigger, but obviously not the Mood board. It does use some YUMMY Waltzingmouse new release stamps, though - which reminds me that they got a Moxie Fab Stamp Of Approval this week - so go & leave a comment in order to have a chance at grabbing some WMS loveliness!!

Best Wishes card

CASE Study Challenge #153

It’s CASE Study time, y’all!! Plus, we’ve got Jennifer McGuire and your argument is invalid. LOL! It’s a good feeling :)
Here’s what we’re feeding your mojo with this week:

It was a perfect excuse to ink up my forgotten Wreath Of Leaves stamp from Hero Arts. I used Memento markers on it, instead of traditional inking. I run the marker over the leaves afterwards, to give it a bit more definition. The little flowers are fussy cut from the Echo Park Beautiful Life, Damask paper. Love this homespun collection :)
