Metal and wood

Hi there, lovelies! I’m sorry for a long-ish break, I took the time to enjoy Chuplet’s 4th birthday (my older girl, Zuzia). Her actual birthday is tomorrow but her parties have been all over the place so that we could fit them time-wise. She had a little celebration at her day care group, a party with her friends this weekend, and there will be one coming for our family as well - I’ve been so wrapped up! It’s so worth it, though… I love this cute little face and everything else that comes in the package… LOL! She’s my precious :)

However, I did squeeze a moment here and there to sneak into the craft room. It’s my aim to play with all of the Moxie Fab World Handmade Cards Week challenges, I *love* what’s on the offer and my head is buzzing with ideas… I have been tackling The Metal, Wood & Cork challenge so far, I chose first because it’s the most out of my comfort zone. Are you with me??
Anyway, once I started I couldn’t stop as the ideas kept coming, and hence all of these :)

On the first card, I used the forgotten mini metal frame which I don’t even remember sourcing from anywhere, lol! For long months it was waiting for a reason to be unearthed and I guess this was the one :) I paired it with a fantastic Penny Black die cut (added some colour to the bird with a Copic marker), and a MFT sentiment stamped on a Simon Says banner die. The texture on the card front is courtesy of a PTI impression plate.

I’m also playing with ric#44, with the card above (thanks, Kimberly!)

The next one, a cute and playful card which was made with a baby boy arrival in mind. I let the patterned paper reinforce the message; love how it looks like a falling confetti, over the banner with a onesie on a mini clothes hanger. I got the hangers from Impress long ago and they were also waiting for their time to come.

Lastly, a card which started great but finished not so much… I suppose it’s ok, but it looked a bit plain with the initial arrangement so I kept adding to it and lost the plot along the way. I’ve got October Afternoon paper, PTI die, Paper Smooches sentiment, and some Studio Calico wood veneers here. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by :) Hope to see you tomorrow!

WMS September Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release Blog Hop! Hopefully you arrived here from Laurie’s blog; otherwise you can join us by starting at Claire’s blog. A total of eight stamp sets are being released this month, and we’ve got something for the Halloween and Christmas enthusiasts, ad well as a couple of super trendy art deco sets! Let’s get cracking :)

I used the images from All Hallow’s Eve, Spooky Tree and The Count, to make the tags below. Love this tree image, and on an important note, it doesn’t need to be used exclusively in the Halloween context. Autumn or Christmas cards would look lovely with it was well, or any kind of nature-themed design. I can’t wait to play more with it!

Next I’ve got Opera Tags Christmas. It was one of the sets which I missed featuring on the first day of sneak peeks. I hung one of the tags as an ornament, from the Spooky Tree (see what I mean??). It was embossed in teal, over the Zig Zag Background. The tiny bow was cut with my Silhouette.

Two more sets which I now have a chance to share for the first time, the delicious Art Deco Background and Putting on the Ritz. I can see a new trend coming, peeps! Mark my words :)
On the first card I created an ombre effect with one of the backgrounds, and stamped the images from Putting on the Ritz inside the negative die cut.

…while I white embossed the other, full-size background on the last card below, and sponged over with Distress Inks. The sentiment is also from Putting on the Ritz. Among the many embellies I combined on this card, is a purple craft feather, chipboard and velvet blooms, hat pins and a branch die cut from Penny Black.

Next stop in the waltz is Jeanne! Thanks for visiting me today, enjoy the inspiration - and happy shopping :)

CASE Study Challenge #158

It’s CASE Study time, everyone! Here’s another beauty by Kathy Racoosin, that we’re tackling today…

I was inspired by the colours, big bold flower and the white accents in the background. I stamped my Hero Arts flower directly on the MME paper, and coloured with Copic markers (RV32, RV34, BV000). After I was done stamping the sentiment, I applied glitter to the lavender parts of the flower.

Check out the blogs below for the Design Team’s takes on the challenge, or visit CASE Study to see it all happening in one place.

WMS September Release Previews - Day 3

The last day of Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release previews is upon us (Gosh, that went quick! That one lost day caught me off guard), and we’re wrapping it up with two more Halloween stamp sets: Spooky Tree and Vintage Witch.

I made a little treat box with a matching card, for my friend’s kiddos, and I combined both sets on them. I simply stamped the tree silhouette on the gable box (cut with my Silhouette), along with one of the fantastic sentiments that come with the Vintage Witch set. I love how the tree image is overlapping the sides of the box.
The main image on the card was done by sponging the background with various Versa Color inks (they’re as good as Distress Inks for blending, IMHO) and stamping the witch and tree in indigo over the created night sky. I masked the moon with a circle die cut and sponged the sky first, then removed the circle and added some more yellow to the surface of the moon. I’m not too pleased with how that photographed, though. In reality the colours are darker and more saturated, much more pleasing to the eye.

I used Seize The Sketch #4 layout, for the card:

WMS September Release Previews - Day 2

After a day’s delay due to a very naughty international post system, I’m delighted to join in the Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release previews! Woo-hoo! The three stamp sets previewed yesterday, which I missed sharing, I’ll make sure I’ll get a good coverage of during the release Blog Hop on Thursday. Today, let me introduce the totally spook-a-licious Splat That, All Hallow’s Eve and The Count.

I say it every year anew, I don’t even do Halloween, y’know…but there’s a huge BUT. Claire’s talent. Yep! These swoon-worthy Halloween stuff that she’s serving us today is sure to convert everyone, and I’m not even kidding. Check it out…

I know, right?? All Edgar A. Poe fans, please stand up! I featured here the magnificent vintage raven image, and the sentiment from All Hallow’s Eve, and Splat That for a bit of good ole’ gore. LOL! As for the branches… well, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow until I tell you more about it :)

I used Cardabilities sketch #83, below:

Next I’ve got a clean & simple take on The Count. Love this silhouette. LOVE. I let it speak for itself, in all its terrifying glory 😀

This card follows the FTL258 sketch:

I’m sorry for not getting into much detail, I’m literally writing this last minute! I hope you’ll join us tomorrow for the reveal of further two sets. It’s gonna be spooky as well!

Cards, cards…

Happy Monday, inky friends! I hope it is or is going to be for you, and I really hope that mine turns out as I wish it would for me as well! Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release previews start tonight and I still haven’t received my stamps in the mail, so my participation, at least for today, is in hazard. However, there’s a chance that the beauties will arrive at my doorstep in a couple of hours and if that happens, I’ll try to whip up something quickly! *crossing fingers and toes*
In the meantime, I’ve been creating some cards, being in-and-out of my craft desk depending on how much time I had to spare. These are a product of the last two days’ effort and I finally gathered them all this morning to photograph and blog. Thanks goodness for a sleeping bub! lol

The first one features the florals from the WMS previous release, Two Step Sprig and Simple Sprig, and the sentiment from Big Day - Today. I added some teeny tiny stars from You’re A Doll, I also smuggled in non-WMS stamps, as in the grunge polka dot pattern from Bo Bunny. The flower is from Prima, the white dots were added with a white gel pen.

This card was created for the new challenge blog in the neighbourhood, Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge. If you love their stamps, this is the place for you! Their first challenge is on (sketch below, which I loosely followed) and you’ll want to join in if you want to win yourself a shopping spree in the WMS store :)

On the second card, there’s also a bit of WMS present - I used the Off Beat Backgrounds stamp set to create my background pattern. I stamped the stripes with Pumice Stone Distress Ink so it gives off the feel of a soft, warm blanket. Or is it just me?? :) The florals and sentiment come from the much loved Harvest Berries set from PTI.

This card was designed with the help of the CTS#45 sketch. I love this one and I couldn’t wait to play along. I suppose I could whip up at least 5 more different cards with it without much thought, you know I love my floral/botanical stamps and this layout is just perfect for them :)

Lastly, I’ve got a card for The All That Glitters Is Gold Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. Frankly, I never cared for gold much but after seeing all that inspiration, the stunning examples of this trend popping around the blogland lately, I consider myself sold. So much so, that I think I may not end up with just one submission to this challenge. I’m having too much fun 😀
For this card, I embossed the stripes with the Jeweled Gold EP from Stampendous. I used the back of a stamp to ink up with VersaMark, in fact it was the same WMS one that I used to create the background in the card above. As you can see, here goes my ability to space the pattern correctly, when I can’t see exactly where I stamped. LOL!
I added a Paper Smooches sentiment to the mix, a die cut frame from Manor House Creations and the flowers were cut from a Crate Paper DP.
