CASE Study Challenge #164

It’s time for a new CASE Study challenge and here’s the fresh inspiration piece from our Muse, Elena Roussakis. Don’t you just love the wonderful mix of pastel goodness??

It’s so fantastically girly and charming, and airy. I had that ‘fresh and airy’ bit especially in mind, when creating my card. Aside from the colours, I opted for the slightly messy look and wanted to evoke a sense of freedom. The cluster of elements is meant to represent the bird, flying up into the sky with the sun behind him. What do you think?

I used another Simon Says exclusive, called Sketchy Banner Greetings, for my sentiment. These funky little banners make me happy! Part of it was stamped on a piece of old DP, and I used pinking scissors to trim it on one side, and a sewing machine to attach it to the card. I pulled both ends up for an extra ‘unruly’ touch. The little hearts are pulled from another set (The Craft’s Meow) but it doesn’t matter much which one you use as soon as they’re small 🙂
The inspiration for my layout:

Check out the blogs below for the Design Team’s takes on the challenge, or visit CASE Study for the full reveal. I’m sad to announce that my dear friend Jean Martin is taking a break from crafting and therefore stepping down from the Team, for the time being. I’ll miss her creations tremendously and I’ll be keeping fingers and toes crossed for her to make a re-appearance whenever she’s ready 🙂

Make It Monday #138

Hi guys! I’m totally hijacking my blog, while I should be waiting patiently for the CASE Study post to launch in two hours… I’m aware of the fact that this post might get buried under the next one quickly and therefore go unnoticed, but life’s crazy here lately and I find myself forgetting things, I just want it off my head… plus, frankly, I’m more than a little giddy that I had a chance to finally give modelling paste a go 🙂
Remember how I tried gesso on my mixed media page recently? Well, it worked, sort of… but heck, the paste is SO much better. I got myself some gold and silver metallic paste as well, and hope to put them to a good use for some Christmas projects. IF time allows 😀
Anyway, I wanted to do a falling snow scene, and since I don’t have any suitable template or stencil, I cut one with my Silhouette. I can see in my future, cutting plenty more different templates, to have on hand. Much cheaper than buying the actual stuff!

I’m playing with the current Make It Monday - Inlaid Die-cuts. Love this technique and it was fun to use it again. Plus, the In The Meadow dies (which I used again in this short period of time…) were perfect for what I had in mind.
The birds and hare, were cut from glitter paper. the patterned paper is from Lawn Fawn. Please note that the ‘mound’ is not a PTI die, I cut it by hand. Easy peasy job. One more inspiration for this card, the Muse challenge #41, with the beautiful card by Janet.

Countdown to Christmas with Penny Black, week #9

It’s beginning to look like Christmas here on my blog-o, and I only realized that it’s the thing to do, when I remembered that I’m doing the craft market in a couple of short weeks and I’ll need some serious stash for the upcoming Holidays… what can I say, I’m doing what I can in the time on hand!! Oh, and let’s not forget about the major joy factor, because it never fails, I just LOVE playing with my Christmas and Winter themed goodies!! That being said… welcome to another installment of the Countdown 🙂

Countdown to Christmas
My aim is to share a new Christmas card made with Penny Black stamps each week. This time I reached for my favourite sentiment from the Glad Tidings stamp set (these are seriously drool-worthy!!) and I paired it with the Christmas Pride poinsettia stamp, which I heat embossed on vellum. I’m stoked with the result, I think this card might actually be a keeper 🙂

The patterned papers are scraps from older My Mind’s Eye collections, Lime Twist & Collectable.

Secondly - this post will be very brief… and lastly, unfortunately no Guest Designer is joining me this time around. I run out of time, ack!!
Anyway, here’s the sketch… a timeless CAS beauty with tons of ways you can approach it 🙂

I used some yummy Waltzingmouse stamps, on my card.

Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop

I’m joining in Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop today! It’s been a while since I gave my PTI stuff a workout, and I need some Christmas gift tags, so here goes!

I cut some tags with the Tag Sale #4 dies, three from red cardstock and three from white; with the idea of aligning them back-to-back. Then I took the silhouettes from the In The Meadow die set and cut the sleighing kid and the horse sleigh in the white tags, using the negative space to bring them to life. I couldn’t do the same with the deers since they’re in a cluster of shapes, so I cut the silhouettes from red cardstock and arranged them on the third tag. I wanted to use the sentiments from the matching stamp set but they’re all too big, so I settled for the phrase from Mega Mixed Messages instead.

I used a silver metallic pen to fill in the debossed circle on each of the tags. It gave the design a nice finish and a bit of more of an ‘oomph’. Hope you like them 🙂
