Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #112

Why yes, I’m late posting again… I procrastinated because of lack of mojo (and the time has been scarce as well), but it never came so I just had to go with what I’ve got. There are other things that I wish I was doing right now, like wrapping presents and spending time with my hubs and the girls, so I’m making it short and sweet. I’ll come back to the normal routine, along with inviting Guesties, in the New Year. Hopefully :)

I’m still in need of Chrissy cards (last minute posting!) and I received my long awaited WPlus9 order way later than I anticipated, so here goes… I wish I gave these gorgeous stamps an opportunity to shine, but there’s no mojo whatsoever :/ You can see both a layered and a one-layer approach to the sketch.

The stripes here were stamped with the back of a long, thin stamp. The result is very shabby but it doesn’t bother me, it emphasizes the folk style of the card.

Moxie Fab World guest blogger - Bicycle love

A busy time on my blog again today! Have you seen this post yet?? This time, I’m popping in with a quick note that I’m a guest blogger on the Moxie Fab World today! Go check it out - here :)
I’m also sharing a cute card with a bike on it, only appropriate considering that my post covers the topic of bicycles!

It’s just quite a simple one-layer on which I did some stamping with Hero Arts and Mama Elephant stamps. Then I used Copics and spray ink to add some colour. Lots of happiness, with such little effort :)

Technically Speaking #2 - Embossed and Stamped Label

Hi there! My next video tutorial on StampNation is up! A little bit later due to the Holiday madness but who doesn’t have hiccups in this busy season?? I’m elaborating more on the embossing with dies technique, and this time I’m showing you how to combine an embossed frame with a coordinating stamp set. You would have seen me using this technique before and it was met with quite an interest.

The video is available exclusively for the SN members.
I can’t wait to see you there! Enjoy :)

CASE Study Challenge #171

It’s the last CASE Study challenge before Christmas! As you know, our Muse is Cath from the Moxie Fab World and the inspiration for today’s challenge (as seen here) will render you speechless… at least that’s what it did to me the first time I saw it! Love this bird. LOVE.

I wanted to take it literally. Wanted a birdie like this on a card, so badly :) Having no suitable die, I gave my Cameo a workout instead, adhered a piece of pretty DP underneath, inked up a simple sentiment stamp and in result put together this little number:

Sometimes the simplest things are the most beautiful. I just adore this card :) Plus, I think encouragement / sympathy cards, above all, should be left simple - it’s the message that matters.
The sentiment comes from The Craft’s Meow Inspired By Audrey stamp set, I can’t link to it unfortunately since the company is closing and the set has sold out.

Check out the blogs below for the Design Team’s takes on the challenge, or visit CASE Study for the full reveal.

Merry & bright - Runway Inspired

Just a quick post, friends… trying not to neglect you either but if you do know of any helpful elves to hire, please let me know :) Playing with the current Runway Inspired challenge (graphics below the card), and coming up with yet another card for the Holidays. Yes, I’ve still some to send…

I white embossed the Hero Arts Wreath Of Leaves, on a lovely textured card, and sponged some Crushed Olive Distress Ink over it. Then I flicked some water over the ink to create further texture, and stamped the sentiment and stars from the Merry Trees set from Simon Says Stamp. The colours are a bit off on the photos, in reality Crushed Olive is a bit greener and darker.

Countdown to Christmas with Penny Black, week #2

I have been absent for a few days, only to flood you with two posts on one day… happens to the best, eh? If it’s your first visit to my blog today, how about you check out some more of my Holiday cards, here! Right now I’m serving you a slightly delayed Countdown to Christmas with Penny Black post, enjoy!

Countdown to Christmas
My aim is to share a new Christmas card made with Penny Black stamps each week. I combined the images from different sets, on this one layer card: Christmas Banners (banners, of course), Merry & Happy (a single ornament) and Yuletide Greetings from which I took the sentiment. I started by lightly drawing the curved lines with a pencil (I used an edge of a large plate), then I stamped the banners and ornament with Memento Luxe inks and used a Memento marker to draw a line in between the banners, right on top of the pencil line.

I created the sentiment by curving it on a large acrylic block. Make sure it always sticks to it firmly, before stamping - I had a whoopsie! :) For a finishing touch, I added a few dots, stamped with white ink, to create a subtle bokeh effect, and I tied a bow with glittery twine over the ornament. I was aiming for a stationery look, I hope I was able to achieve it.
Next week is where this feature comes to an end! Boy, did the time go by quickly…
