Happy news

Hi there, my apologies for the disruption in the functioning of my blog, you collectively managed to exceed my bandwidth (LOL) but luckily a new month has just kicked in and all is good again 🙂
I was meaning to say.. have you seen this post? I’m very happy to join the WPlus9 Design Team and to celebrate the fact, I made this!

I used a bunch of WPlus9 dies (literally!), such as Fanciful Feathers (cut in various Kaisercraft After Five patterned papers), Under The Mistletoe (I said it before and I’ll say it again - those delicate branches are a bang for your buck!) and the staple in my crafting - Banner Trio. I used Embroidered Bouquet for the sentiment and the background was done by swiping Brushed Pewter Distress Stain over the white cardstock. Thecshimmer of the stain is gorgeous, combined with the glitzy shiny patterned paper.
I finished the card with an extra feather (this time a *real* one) and a twine bow.
Oh, and just to tease you just a little bit… I’m pretty excited about the new release… just sayin’ 🙂

Rejects!

Hi everyone, I just came back from a wonderful craft retreat with a group of talented friends (which I’m sure you noticed if you have me in your Facebook or Instagram) and I have some card goodness to share over the next couple of weeks - but I’ve something else to share tonight. The Stamping Royalty contest took place recently and I decided that I enter for the first time. It was a very rushed decision, I sat down to a couple of cards late at night the day before the deadline. Tired. So, figures my mojo wasn’t exactly soaring and I’ve got a few extra cards to share with you instead 🙂

On the first one, I combined PTI stamps (Meadow Greens, Super Stripes) with SSS sentiment (Hello You).

There’s a mixture of stamps on the second card, from Inkadinkado background (Posh Motifs and Trims) which I stamped in white ink, through WPlus9 (Flora & Fauna - dogwoods, paper pieced with vellum and green cardstock) and Neat & Tangled (Dreams - sentiment). I used Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities for the double label separated with a twine ribbon banner.

The last card is super simple, I stamped the Penny Black Breezy foliage stamp with various Memento markers - once extra on the die cut circle which I then aligned with the full image - and the sentiment from Kind Words (also by Penny Black) which I inked selectively so that I can replace the existing line separating the sentiment with a custom drew frame. I used a red gel pen for that.

I hope you enjoyed, see you again soon!

Happy Birthday card

StampNation welcomes Some Odd Girl!

Today is an exciting day at StampNation. We are introducing a new teacher to our Classroom, Kristy Dalman from Some Odd Girl. She will be doing exclusive coloring and Copic tutorials for our members and we couldn’t be more excited.

For the next FIVE weeks, every Friday, Kristy will be adding a new lesson to StampNation. After that, you will find a new lesson on the last Friday of every month.

The topics of her first five lessons are:

1. Intro to the markers (types, nibs, etc)
2. Color system
3. Smooth Coloring
4. Blending, 3 Color Basic Blend
5. Shading Basics

From there, she will create her lessons based on member feedback.

If you haven’t joined us at StampNation yet, learn more about it here!

The SN Design Team is doing a blog hop to introduce and welcome Kristy to our team. Each of us have used a Some Odd Girl stamp set on our project. Follow the links below to see each of our projects.Catherine / Heather / Kristie / Kristy / Maureen / Shea

There is more…Prizes!

We’ve hidden TWO 1- month subscriptions to StampNation along the hop…comment on the blogs in the hop to enter to win. Two winners will be announced on Monday, March 31.

On my card I used the super lovely Music Mae, coloured with Copics and matched with the Basic Grey Fresh Cut paper. For the sentiment, I combined the Simon Says You die with the coordinating stamp set (which also happens to be called You). I gave the white panel a curved shape, with the Curved Edge die - also by Simon Says.

The Copic markers I used:
trousers: BG53/57/75
shirt: YG11/13/17
shoes / headphones: W2/W5/W7
headphones metal parts: C1/C3/C5
hair: E21/25/27/29
skin: E00/02/11/95
eyes: B93/95/97/99

We are also using SOG stamps on our StampNation Challenge cards this week. Here’s a peek at my project!

One lucky StampNation Member that participates in the challenge this week (FYI - it’s a sketch!) will have her choice of one Some Odd Girl stamp set, or 3 Digis. Winner will be announced on April 9.
Thank you for joining us today, we can’t wait to keep celebrating with you at StampNation!

CASE Study Challenge #184

We’re ready to serve you more Muse inspiration at CASE Study! The last but certainly not least card by Joni, is another personal favourite of hers and I can already see crafty folk squealing over this challenge. Hehehe 🙂 Just look at this ethereal beauty!

It was in my plans initially to go in the direction of subtle / understated / vellum goodness but alas I changed my mind and went all sugary folk, with the WPlus9 Blanket Stitched Blooms set. I followed the same technique of masking off the sentiment area, and I underlined the edges of the stamped images with Memento marker for the cleaner look. I love how the scattered sequins add playfulness to the design.

I followed the CTS#69 sketch.

Papertrey Ink March 2014 Blog Hop

Click here for the Penny Black “How-To” Video Blog Hop

I’m madly busy trying to organize myself for the upcoming craft retreat with friends, but I couldn’t pass up on the yummy Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop! The theme is high gloss and boy are there possibilities!

I was gearing up for some serious heat embossing, but I didn’t want to risk waking up our poor teething girl with the noise, in the middle of the night. Instead I pulled out Glossy Accents and applied it generously over the jar from Friendship Jar stamp set, for a realistic look that I adore! I even inked the edges of the jar twice, so that there’s a faux 3D look to it. I DIG it 🙂
For the blooms, I used my PTI all-time favourite - The Sweet Life. I also stamped the subtle background with the ’tile’ stamp from Lovely Layers.
For the finishing touches, I flicked some Glimmer Mist straight from the dispenser and added a subtle shading under the jar with W0 & W2 Copic markers.

You can see the dimension in the glossy jar better here:

Hope you like it! Thanks for visiting, time for me to hit the hay… it’s 2am, OY! 🙂
