CASE Study Challenge #196 and a bonus card!

Hi folks, ready for a new CASE Study challenge? I love a good scene made up with inks and stamps, bonus brownie points for those with a strong cute factor :) Pamela Ho‘s inspiration card ticks all the boxes!

I wanted a scene too, and a cute character or two. I opted for the Honey Bunny stamp set from Mama Elephant. I seriously squeal inside, every time I pick one of their character sets. I mean, come on… who else does them quite as ME?? Happy sigh.

After I sponged the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and adding the ‘hill’ which I sponged added some darker green to as well, I sat my Copic coloured bunnehs on top of it and stamped a few stars around. (Mama Elephant Believe In Magic - a very handy set every time I need a tiny star).

See the balloon? I drew it with a pencil. I wanted a vertical accent strong enough to connect the bunnies and the sentiment together, but not too obtrusive either. I think it looks terrific there :)

In other news: You might have noticed a lack of StampNation related posts lately, and that’s because I needed to step down from the Design Team and discontinue my Technically Speaking tutorials for the time being, due to time restrictions. However, I by no means stopped loving and frequenting the forum, it truly is a fantastic place to hang out and whenever time allows I’ll be still taking part in challenges or events. Like yesterday, for this matter! A new challenge has launched and it’s sponsored by Altenew. YAY for a big opportunity to win some of their goodies!!

Make sure you read about the event HERE on the Altenew blog, you will see there sneak peeks of DT’s samples and Catherine’s exclusive video promoting Altenew product.
I also made a card using their Sochcahtoa stamp set. I’m trying to brave the triangle trend! Some of the shapes were filled with a yellow Copic marker. I used some scraps and a few enamel dots as well. Very thrifty card. I’m sharing one more project on StampNation but you’ll have to pop in there to see it :)

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #124

Hi, lovelies! I’m bringing you a new sketch but before I get to it, I need to give credit for the original idea and inspiration to the awesome Miss Laura. I found THIS CARD of hers recently, fell in love with it to the point of wanting to recreate, and the rest - as they say - is history. So many thanks and all the praise to you, Laura :)

I created the background by stamping the elements from WPlus9 Borders & Backgrounds 4 stamp set, with several SU! inks. Then I die cut the WPlus9 Hand Lettered Hello in the panel and dressed it up with a few MME enamel dots.

Lots of options this sketch, my second try would be masking off a rectangle and sponging inside to create a scene., How will you interpret it? Can’t wait to see :)

***************************************************************************

If you would like to play along:

- You’re kindly asked to save the sketch image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- Share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget below, so that I can come and check it out!
Perks:
- A new sketch is posted every other Saturday night (ideally but I might be late at times), and the link widget is open for two weeks. However, you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section and I’ll pop in to see it.
- Every now and then, I’ll be inviting one person who uses my sketch, to join me for the next one!

Keep a smile in your heart, darling

Hi friends, quick post tonight. I was inspired by the Photo Pocket Page Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. I took a couple of small and two double sized journaling cards from two collections from MAMBI (Me & My Big Ideas), added a few embellishments and came up with this:

I stocked up on those darling (and money-friendly!) pocket card collections when they came to my local scrapbook store, I don’t know why but they’re hard to find online these days. Pushed back by more trendy companies, perhaps? I think they’re very cool. Anyway.
I spiced up the card by adding a Studio Calico Sequin Star and a word sticker from My Mind’s Eye. Excuse me the last of supply list for this card, there wouldn’t be much to link to since the supplies are either thrifted or untrackable…

CASE Study Challenge #195

It’s time for a new challenge at CASE Study! As you know already, June belongs to Pamela Ho and here’s a piece of awesomeness from her blog that we’re sharing for your enjoyment this week:

I took mainly of the masking technique from this fantastic card, and although I was strongly leaning towards using a kraft base as well, I decided to be original and opted for a crisp white and a circular masked area instead. I once again used the a-mah-zing Summer Garden stamp set from Mama Elephant / Simon Says Stamp. I coloured the flowers with pastel shades of Copic markers. Easy peasy.
(psst… I didn’t even mask the flowers, too lazy for that… I inked the pieces selectively to my best abilities and apparently it worked :) )

Florals just for fun

I had an amazingly relaxed couple of days, blogging wise. No assignments to stress about, I spent whatever time for craft I had purely on having fun with my supplies. Some new stamps were waiting to see ink and I was itching to revisit some favourites. And this is what happened :)

Favourites for sure, Painted Flowers and Label Love (both from Altenew), go together like peanut butter and jam. I stamped the outlines of the flowers only, treating them as a base for watercolouring. I used regular watercolour paints, added splatters with Silver Glimmer Mist and stamped some more splats with black ink - from the Stampin’ Up! set called Gorgeous Grunge. Quite lovely, eh?

I also indulged in the fantastic Summer Garden stamp set designed by Mama Elephant for Simon Says Stamp, and the matching dies. The flowers are dainty and just so gorgeous… so is the font used for the sentiments. It’s one of the few fantastic, newly developed fonts which seems to be used in ever increasing number of projects - from invitations to website design to branding, and which is making its way into paper craft as well. I hope it doesn’t end up being killed by over-use and landing on the list of forbidden fonts… like Scriptina. *wink*

So anyway… I coloured the images with Copics to my heart’s desire, added some dots with white gel pen, and mounted on a white panel with two borders stamped with WPlus9 Lake House ink and Chantilly Trim stamp set.

Another stamp set I revisited with joy, was PTI Doodlie-Do. I stamped one of the designs on a white panel three times and trimmed it on one side along the edges of the created border. Then I coloured the images (also with Copics) and mounted on a grey card.

Lastly, I went artsy with an eclectic mix of stamps and dies: Meadow Greens from PTI (ferns), Inkadinkado Reach For The Sky (butterfly), Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Words (sentiment) and Clustered Leaves die (also SSS).

I created a watercolour wash on the card, by painting on with a brush an ombre layer of three shades of Distress Paint: Antique Linen, Bundled Sage and Spun Sugar. Then I splattered some October Afternoon Hopscotch Sprinkler on a few places and stamped the ferns with Distress Inks (Peeled Paint, Victorian Velvet), misting the stamp with water after I inked it up. Same technique was used on the butterfly.

I hope you enjoyed… I hope you missed me just a little bit as well :p
See you tomorrow for a new CASE Study challenge! xx

Penny Black aplenty

This post is long overdue, I’ve had one of these cards done weeks ago but the time has been eluding me. The other one I made just last night - I had an urge to colour one of those delightful Mo Manning girls that Penny Black carries. Oh my gosh, they’re precious <3

The first card is a trendy (I hope!) collage with a mix of elements from different Penny Black stamp sets. The focal point is a sentiment from the beautiful chalkboard-inspired cling set, Truly Great. I stamped the sentiment on a PTI tag which I first covered with Distress Inks (Wild Honey & Scattered Straw) and flicked some water over to create texture. I added a small glittered heart die cut to the bottom of the sentiment.

On the card base I first stamped the foliage from Wonderous cling stamp, and then filled the gaps with the tiny feathers from Kind Words. Then I gathered together the tag and a glittered pocket page from Me & My Big Ideas, using a mini clothespin and added a deep green twine bow. Satin Mint sequins finish the card.

For the next card, I coloured with Copic markers the girl from Penny Black April stamp. I cut it out and popped up on top of the layer of vellum, on which I white embossed the Bed Of Roses stamp. I also added the sentiment from the Friendship set, which I found quite fitting :)

Here are the Copics used:
watering can: Y21/23/26/28
head scarf & skirt: V20/22/25/28, RV19
shirt & stockings: RV11/14/17/19, C1/C3
boots:BV00/02/04/08, C1/C3
flower: G82/85, RV04/09
ground: E43/44/47
skin: E00/02/93
hair: E21/25/27/29

Hope to see you again soon! Please keep your fingers crossed for me this weekend, re: Gallery Idol :)
Many thanks for all who voted for my card - you’re much appreciated!

A Good Friend card
