CASE Study Challenge #92

Welcome to another fun week at CASE Study!! We’re having a blast with the inspiration provided by our May Muse, Aga.
I chose this particular card of hers below, not only because of the striking layout and chic colours, but I made myself a promise, that it would help me break out my Flower Soft.
Let me just say… I chickened out, lol! So nope, no Flower Soft from me just yet :)

Instead, I settled down for the ‘sketchy’ side of that card, with a beautiful focal point at the top, and the sentiment in several rows, crowned with a little decorative piece.

I used three of the brand new stamp sets from The Craft’s Meow
. The flower was built with the blooms from the Flower Garden, stamped four times (in Memento Paris Dusk, Bahama Blue, Lady Bug and Rich Cocoa) around the circular space in which I placed a fabric brad.
The sentiment was created with the Typically Teen and Retro Foundations sets, and stamped in Memento London Fog. Lurve me some Memento :)

I’ve been having trouble photographing dimension in the current photo setting, so there’s a couple of extra shots to help you see it:

Lots of Moxie Fab inspiration for me today as well, as this week’s Tuesday Trigger: Man-Tastic! helped me with my colours, and I’m having yet another approach to the Gingham Challenge, with that cutie-patootie brad :)

The Design Team prepared some beautiful samples today as well, click on any of the links to be taken to their blogs:

Orchids

Hello! A very quick post, I want to make it before CASE Study post launches in an hour :)
I made a card for a couple of challenges, here it is:

I used the stamps from Flourishes (Orchids and the sentiment from April Showers), the paper from Pink Paislee’s Nantucket, and a few Spellbinders™ dies (Standard Circles LG, Ribbon Banners and Twisted Metal Tags and Accents).

I coloured the flowers with Copics:
YR27, YR24, YR01 for the mustard petals;
R46, R05, R02, YR12 for the red centers;
YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91 for the leaves;
and BG11 for the background and banner filler.
The colours on the photo are a bit off, in real life the reds and mustards are much less similar in colour.

The challenges for this card are DS52 sketch, cQc#138 colours, and FTTC170, which asks for a flower image.

See you again soon, thanks for peeking! :)

The Craft's Meow

I revisited today the two fantastic sets designed by Karen Baker, Retro Foundations and Typically Teen.
(Typically Teen is your May’s gift with every $50 purchase from the TCM Store!)

The white embossed sentiment and the small one stamped in brown ink, the hanging “disco lights” and the small yellow stars strip, are all from Retro Foundations. The checked background and the splatters come from Typically Teen. I stamped them all in a variety of Memento inks (apart from the checks, which were stamped with Old Paper Distress Ink)

I based my card on this sketch from Retro Sketches:

I’ve got one more card to share, this time with Nina’s Sew Happy set.

I stamped the spools on a piece of canvas, with Iced Spruce Distress Ink and frayed the edges. The dress form was stamped on blue cardstock with black Versafine, and the sentiment with Versa Magic Turquoise Gem.

I cut the decorative border with Classic Scallop and Classic Decorative Inserts Three Edgeabilities®.
The patterned paper comes from Echo Park This & That, and I added some washi tape as well.

This time I used the Ribbon Carousel sketch below, as well as the colours from CR84FN54:

Now it’s time to make your way to Jackie’s blog! Enjoy your time, and good luck in the drawing!!

Happy Birthday, Jessica!!

Hello and welcome to my first post for today!
The Craft’s Meow Blog Hop launches soon as well, that’s why this post is scheduled a bit ahead of time. The rest of the participants’ posts in this special Blog Hop, will be ready at 8am EST, so stay tuned!

In three days’ time a special girl is having a birthday, and a bunch of friends gathered together to celebrate this occasion and give her a fun surprise.

Happy Birthday to the one and only, Jessica Knutsen!
Jessica is the brain and heart behind There She Goes stamp company. I’ve been a Trendsetter (DT member for TSG) for almost two years, which has been the longest time yet I ever spent on a DT. The fact says it all, it really was the time of my life and it wouldn’t be so without the vision, kindness and smiles that Jess has been sharing with all of us.

I created a card with several of my favourite TSG sets. I hope you’ll enjoy it, sweetie :)

This fun little guy is called Birthdaybot, and was coloured with Copics. I popped him on Labels Eleven, the bottom one having been stamped with one of the patterns in the Fabulous set. The sentiment comes from Everyday Greetings.
The papers are, of course *wink*, from My Mind’s Eye - On The Bright Side collection.
I happened to write down the markers that I used, which doesn’t happen often :)
Blues: BG11, BG13, BG15, BG72
Greys: W0, W3, W7
Reds: R02, R05, R29
Greens: YG11, YG13, YG17
Oranges: YR01, YR24, YR27

I used May’s SFYTT for my layout:

And below is the full list of participants in this Birthday Blog Hop:

See you in T minus 1 hour, for another great Blog Hop and the big reveal of The Craft’s Meow May release! Enjoy your time :)

The Craft’s Meow May Release - Day 4

Today marks the last day of The Craft’s Meow release. I sincerely hope that you had the time to check out the new stamps so far! I can honestly say that it’s one of the coolest releases to date…

The Craft's Meow

Today is no different, we’re introducing two awesome sets called Retro Foundations and Typically Teen, both designed by Karen Baker. Karen outdid herself with them, and she also made me very happy with the bold sentiments and timeless designs.
They’re both perfect for masculine cards, especially Typically Teen, which is full of grunge elements.

I should mention that Typically Teen will be your free gift for May, with every $50 purchase from the TCM Store!

Cool, huh?? Just a simple stamping and a single brad (My Mind’s Eye), and the effect is so fun.
My inspiration comes from the FTL191 sketch and ric#12 (colours/design). I’m also entering the card into the Spatter Technique Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Retro Foundations is full of great background builders with accompanying sentiments. I used one of each on the card below, the background stamped in grey ink on kraft card, and the sentiment divided into two parts, stamped in black and fuchsia.

I also used one of the other new sets for May, Flower Garden, to create the “center piece”, a scattered arrangement of various flowers and leaves. I wanted it to be carefree and airy, therefore I resigned from masking.

Here I used the PPA135 sketch, along with the cheerful photo inspiration from Scrapbook Boutique:

If you’d like to win either of these stamp sets, pop in the TCM blog and leave a comment on today’s post! You have until 9:00 pm PDT to do so. Don’t forget to stop by all of the designers’ blogs as well, and gear up for the grand reveal and Blog Hop tomorrow!!

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #60

Today has been a pretty busy day blog-wise!
If you’re looking for today’s The Craft’s Meow release post, click HERE. You can see the Waltzingmouse sketch & sample by clicking HERE. Otherwise, please scroll down to see both :)

I was stoked to see that so many of you decided to play with the last week’s sketch! Thank you for this amazing experience, I hope there will be more times like this.
Today I’m serving you another CAS. I went a bit overboard decorating the sketch itself, but you will see that my card below is really quite simple.

It’s all about Papertrey today… I used the Simple Sunflower stamp set and their Soft Stone cardstock that I adore. The ribbon is SU! So Saffron.

The flowers and sentiment were stamped with Memento Cantaloupe & Bamboo Leaves, and black Versafine.

I took a little liberty with the PDCC132 color splash challenge, by adding a touch of green, and making grey a prominent colour.

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC60.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every Saturday, but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.
