Teal poppies

Good evening, lovelies :)
I’ve been a busy bee today, putting finishing touches on the CASE Study 2nd Anniversary next month. In my true fashion, I’m still to tackle tomorrow’s challenge though (more time on my hands didn’t necessarily change my nasty procrastinating habits…), but I wanted so much to finally make a card which I had in mind for a few days. Especially that the challenge I wanted it for, is ending soon.

I missed a good deal of challenges at A Blog Named Hero, but the current one has been calling my name. It’s called “Inspired by Hero Arts Artists” and means just as much. I often get inspired by the lovely HA Hostesses, but I remember how much I loved this card by Shari Carroll. The terrific layout especially, with tall florals piled up in the middle of the card.
The embossing technique is so lovely too, but because I had limited time on my hands, I took a shortcut and simply paper pieced the flowers stamped with black ink.

I inked up the Delicate Blossoms stamp set; they haven’t seen much love from me, despite the fact that I love them to bits. The sentiment is also from HA (Right At Home).

I combined in one more challenge, ric#16 with the inspiration below. I was convinced that this one’s too much for me, until I gave up on duplicating the patterns and just chose the gorgeous, summery colours.

I’ll see you tomorrow, with a CASE Study post! I hope you enjoyed this one :)

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #69

Wow… where did the weekend go?? We had the most beautiful weather and sadly we didn’t get to use it much… we were either recovering from cold (meaning Chuplet and myself) or suffering from its first symptoms (namely hubby). Not the coolest way to spend the last two days, if you ask me. Oh, well. We hope to redeem ourselves soon enough - I can feel Spring coming already!!

I guess it should work as an apology as well, for a sketch delivered late. After a busy Release Week for TCM, I wanted to take a day or two off as well. All in all, I hope it was worth waiting for 😉

I think it’s a cute and versatile sketch, and I can see especially the center part being interpreted in many awesome ways. If I had one of these cool sunburst stamps, like the ones PTI or WPlus9 released recently, I’d certainly give them a go as well.

I couldn’t resist this tiny, gorgeous stamp from Inkadinkado, called Reach for the Sky, and I built this card around it. I’m certainly not an odd ball with my love for butterfly stamps so you know what I mean - you can never have too many! I especially like the realistic look and this one ticks all the boxes. Plus, can you just look at this stunning sentiment… sigh.
Anyway, I started with the PTI Plum Pudding CS, that I embossed with the Flora M-Bossabilities™ folder and carefully sponged the raised parts with light purple ink for the contrast. You can see the effect better here:

Then I stamped the sentiment in black (from the Inkadinkado set) and the foliage from Verve’s New Mercies set, in Memento Pistachio on Rustic White CS, and covered the middle with a strip of Candied Violets paper from World Win Papers. I zig-zag sew along the edges, matted the piece with the same colour of paper and wrapped some baker’s twine around it.

The butterfly was shaded with Copics and fixed to the center with a little mulberry rose in the middle of it.

I used the colours/theme from Embellish Dry Embossing Color Trends Challenge:

A few things to keep in mind if you decide to use my sketch:

- You’re kindly asked to save the image onto your computer first, and if you make a card based on it, please link back to this post.
- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC69.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.
- A new sketch and sample is posted every Saturday, but you’re welcome to play any time! Just leave a link in the comments section after Inlinkz widget closes.

You’ve got the ultimate chance to grab ALL SIX sets, simply by visiting and commenting on each stop in the hop!
The deadline to comment is 9:00pm PDT, Sunday, July 22nd.

I had much fun with the new goodies, while working on my Blog Hop cards. Especially the two of them, Ladies & Gents and Love Dwells Here have been calling my name, so I made two cards!
For the first one, I stamped the chevron stars from Love Dwells Here (how cute are they???) on PTI Soft Stone cardstock, and filled in every second stripe with white gel pen (Signo). It’s a subtle yet cool effect, I hope you can see it on the photo. I finished the design by stamping the sentiment from Ladies & Gents and adding some rhinestones.

And here’s the Jay Gee’s Nook challenge #21, that served as my inspiration:

The same two sets have been used on the card below, only this time I took the images from Ladies & Gents, and the sentiment from Love Dwells Here.
I stamped the bike, umbrella and sentiment on white card, coloured parts with Copics and paper pieced the umbrella with MME Follow Your Heart - Be Amazing papers. The same paper pad was used for the strip on the right side of the card. I finished by adding a little baker’s twine bow, it “tied” the two pieces together.

Lastly, I thought I’d do some more Copic colouring, and I pulled out the Sweet Taste Of Summer set.
Firstly I layered a piece of PTI Fine Linen cardstock, embossed with So Trendy M-Bossabilities™ folder, on cream card base. Then I added three strips of DP, cut out from MME Lost & Found - Rosy paper pad. I layered the image with brown cardstock and sew around the edges. The sentiment has been stamped on white card and fie cut with Die-Namics tab die.

I used DS61 for my layout:

From here, jump on over to Jackie’s blog! Thank you for visiting, have fun hopping along with us :)
Don’t forget, that one of the newly released sets, Summertime with Fibi & Lilly is your July’s Gift w/ $50 purchase in the TCM Store!!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 107

Hello again, friends! It’s been a busy week on my little bloggie, but I’m not done yet! Weekend has finally arrived, and with it a new Waltzingmouse sketch, so let’s get to it!!

Um, yeah… I really like this layout. Skewed panels make me sigh with delight, and I’ve seen Laurie Schmidlin and Tosh (the inspiration behind our sketch) making them work beautifully countless times. However, I don’t normally have the guts to challenge them myself. That, or I’m too lazy.
Not this week, though!

I took a yummy striped paper from October Afternoon, and stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink, using Flourishes - Scallops and Dots set. Then I pulled out the roses from Roses In Bloom set, coloured them with Copics, cut out and arranged on the label die cut with Classic Rectangles LG/Classic Scalloped Rectangles LG Nesties™. I added the sentiment (also from Roses In Bloom), and one more flourish, this time stamped in Versa Magic Oasis Green.

Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch blog, to see more from the Mischief Makers and play along! See you later,

The Craft’s Meow July Release - Day 3

Yet another sneak peek at The Craft’s Meow today! Are you ready??

The Craft's Meow

We’re featuring the beautiful Love Dwells Here set, designed by Nina Brackett. I must say, I really hope I gave these gorgeous stamps more justice. I’ve been having a nasty cold and crafting proved a challenge. Let alone taking good photos… duh! I’ll try to redeem myself later…

I started with the PTI Melon Berry base, and layered it with the Teresa Collins DP. I die cut the doily with the Cheery Lynn French Pastry die, and layered the squares cut with Classic Squares LG/Classic Scalloped Squares LG Nestabilities® on top of it.
Then I stamped the roof and base of the house, on PTI Berry Sorbet and Spring Rain, in Memento Love Letter and Vivid Sky Blue; cut them out and assembled on top. The wings were stamped on Aqua Mist in Versa Magic Turquoise Gem, and I added the Berry Sorbet heart (die cut with Classic Hearts Nestabilities®) on the top. The sentiment was stamped on it, with the Love Letter ink.

You can win today’s previewed set, by leaving a comment on the TCM blog today!! You have until 9:00 pm PDT to do so! Also, please take the time to see all of the designers’ blogs.
Tomorrow marks the last day of sneak peeks, I hope you’ll join us!
