Another scrappy card

…and yet another quick post. I’ve been preoccupied both with the kids (especially Julka who’s a total sweetheart but only just learnt to crawl and now mummy needs eyes around her head) and the fact that the two little turkeys (as we affectionately call them) successfully prevent me from doing any sort of work during the day. No chief, suddenly nothing is quite as easy as it’s been with Zuzia alone…

Heck yeah I’m enjoying it! Motherly love has the power you can’t easily describe, you need to find out for yourself. My heart has never been fuller. But, I also never craved for more hours in a day than I do now. So much I want to do, blog to develop further, magazine submissions to fulfill, videos I want to (um, should) be taking, and the little time I had before to do it, is going AWOL these days.
Ranting aside, I’m pretty darn happy with all that I’m blessed with and making cards is one of these things that make me insanely happy. Oh, I even have one to share tonight. Behold!

You’ll find in it: a bunch of different die cut butterflies (Spellbinders Fanciful Flight Shapeabilities, Martha Stewart Classic Butterfly punch, and PTI Love Lives Here die), some ready-made die cuts from Kaisercraft (Sweet Pea, bunting) and Teresa Collins (Summer Stories, banners), a SC wood veneer flutterby, a negative of a die cut sentiment (SSS Small Hello) and Basic Grey Fiction papers. Also a vintage button (SU!) and sequins, mostly from Neat & Tangled.

Laters, peeps 🙂

CASE Study Challenge #176

Sadly we’re parting with our Muse this week, at CASE Study. I absolutely loved the time spent with the inspiration provided by Donna and it seems I wasn’t the only one having such sentiments for the participation this month was stellar! I hope this last challenge will be no different, and frankly if the inspiration card below doesn’t make you run to your craft room then I don’t know what else does 🙂

I had big plans to make my card equally clean. Alas, I failed big time on that but I love how this scrappy little thing turned out. I can see the influences of some of my favourite folk right here, like Danielle, Wida and Aga. The inspiration? A big, bold fuchsia die cut element, and gold.

Firstly, I created the background by applying pink chalk (Pebbles Basic Brights set) to a watermarked image (Penny Black Bed of Roses). I used my thumb instead of the little dauber as it gave me more control.

Then I die cut the rose (Penny Black Rose die) from PTI Raspberry Fizz CS and covered it with a coat of Smooch for a beautiful shimmer. I layered a hand-cut piece of PTI vellum and the rose, sprayed some Tattered Angels Ferrari Red chalkboard ink across the card. Then I finished the card by adding the accents - glitter tape, thread, Glitz Design Dance In Sunshine epoxy words and sequins.

Check out the blogs below for the Design Team’s takes on the challenge, or visit CASE Study to see it all in all place.

Sweet folk florals

Like Teri would say, meet today’s card! Short and sweet, I’m trying to catch up on some design work today but so far the results are miserable 🙂

This card is a result of the following (click on the graphics for the direct links). I’m glad to have Laura’s sketches back! I’ve been a big fan of 2S4Y back in the day.

I’m playing with some of the shiny new ‘toys’… WPlus9 stamp sets and SU! inks. LOVE the inks.
Call me a noob but I never tried them before. Somebody kill me. They’re genius!! See you tomorrow 🙂

Runway Inspired #52

Hi there! First up, thanks so much for the love, I’m glad you liked yesterday’s card. Today I’m being inspired by runway and it’s another simplistic card that packs a punch. I’m playing with my new Simon Says word die, yay!

The die is called Big Thanks and I cut two and stacked them one on top of the other for an extra ‘oomph’. The stamps come from the Petal Pieces set (also by SSS) and I stamped them with a variety of Hero Arts Shadow and Memento Luxe inks.

Here’s the challenge inspiration. Click on the graphics for the direct link.

PTI January 2014 Blog Hop

Just popping in quickly, with my entry to the Papertrey Ink‘s Blog Hop. The task is to use pink with added neutrals if needed. I used the beautiful Meadow Greens stamp set and two shades of pink & grey, to create my card. There was a bit of fiddling involved with getting the images line up but it was worth it 🙂

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #114

Hi guys, thank you for the beautiful cards you shared with me in the last sketch post! Seeing my sketches in action, always such a special feeling… keep them coming!! This time I’m surprising you (and myself) with a horizontal layout - got to do them s0metimes too! I actually quite enjoyed working with it it *wink*

I felt like Copic colouring and my choice fell on PTI‘s Year Of Flowers - Morning Glories. The effect I achieved is really cool and once I couldn’t wait to share the photos with you, once I finished the card last night.
Unfortunately I only managed to catch the last minutes of daylight when taking the photos today and the result is less then satisfactory. I’ll see if I can re-take them tomorrow, or/and otherwise I may give you a step-by-step colouring tutorial on those very soon 🙂
ETA: the photos now replaced, still not entirely happy because editing causes the smooth gradient on the petals roughen up. Sigh.

Copics I used:
G85, G82, G94, G40
V09, V06, V04, V12
BV29, BV25, BV23, BV20

The card base is an old SU! cardstock, I don’t know the name - sorry.
