WPlus9 August Release, continued

I would like to share a couple more cards featuring the new WPlus9 products today :) It’s been a better day mojo-wise (photo-wise as well) although I still don’t seem to be able to locate all of my creativity. My parents who have been staying with us for the last 5 months, go back to Poland in a week’s time and my girls have been on and off various illnesses, viruses and whatnot - I’ve been a bundle of nerves lately and I think that’s why I can’t find a spark. But enough of the whinging, here’s what I’ve got for you!

First up, the winner of the giveaway of the Papel Picado Clear Stamps & Dies from two days ago…

Hazel Parr says:
Roll on the new release!
Love you’re variety of cards

Congratulations, Hazel! Your name will appear on the Winners’ Page on the WPlus9 blog and Dawn will be in touch with you shortly. Thanks to everyone who left comments!

The new release is now available in full in the Wplus9 store as well as in the Simon Says Stamp store!
How about some enabling first :) If you’re looking for a sentiment die to add to your collection, how about the new addition to the hand lettered series - Hand Lettered Thanks Designer Dies! It coordinates with a wonderful stamp set, Hand Lettered Thanks and together they offer great versatility. I paired both with the vellum butterfly cut with the Flora & Fauna 2 Designer Dies. More on this and the matching, fantastic stamp set later this month.

The panel is made from Kaisercraft patterned paper (Porcelain Rose collection). I used pinking scissors for the ‘fringe’.
I was inspired by the CAS(E) this Sketch #87 layout below:

Another card that I’d like to share, was made using the sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 5 and the floral arrangement was done with Fresh Cut Containers stamp set and a variety of WPlus9 inks (Appletini, Sweet Gelato, Blossomsberry, Lake House and Nautical Navy). I drew a frame around the panel with a Memento marker and used a black marker to accentuate the centers of the purple flowers.

This time I used Retro Sketches #126 for my starting point, which I tweaked a little as you can see…

That’s all for now, see you later!

Thanks card

Happy Birthday card

WPlus9 August Release - Papel Picado & GIVEAWAY!

As promised, I’m going to show you some of the goodies in the WPlus9 August release! You can see the full reveal of the new stamps and dies HERE on the WPlus9 blog, and while you’re there keep an eye on the daily (often multiple) opportunities to snatch some of those before they’re even available in the store!

I’m starting today with Papel Picado. It’s a lovely set with matching Companion Die.

This set of banners is inspired by a Mexican paper cutting and has a unique folk flair that only Dawn can pull off so well. It also coordinates with the alphabet dies available in the WPlus9 store… but it can do so much more! Here’s a couple of ideas.

Disclaimer: I know these photos suck and it breaks my heart that I have to leave them as they are until I’m back from work tomorrow and hopefull I’m able to re-take them. I was running late finishing them and therefore needed to take the photos in artificial light. Sometimes it works, sometimes doesn’t :-/

Here I stamped the banners from Papel Picado across the card in Wild Mango Dye Ink, then added the flowers to some in Ocean Drive, and stamped the lines from Heartfelt Mix set over each row in Silver Lining. The same ink and the latter stamp set was used to stamp the sentiment, which I tweaked firstly by bending it (somewhat lousily) to match the curvatures, and secondly by inking selectively. A few sequins here and there and the card was finished.

I covered each banner with a Wink of Stella, here you can see the shimmer:

Another card, where I heat embossed the biggest banner with red embossing powder and topped with the Hand Lettered Hello Die. I also slid underneath a couple of leaves from Folk Art Florals Die and stamped randomly the small flowers.

Here I tiled some of the stamps in the set, stamping them in Sweet Nectar and Silver Lining. Then I combined a die cut and a stamped sentiment from another new, fabulous stamp set with coordinating dies: Hand Lettered Thanks. I topped the letter “o” with a button.

Lastly I made this card, slightly different from the rest. I die cut the banners from both white cardstock and patterned papers, and stamped using a variety of WPlus9 inks. I used the Hand Lettered Thanks again to stamp the sentiments - the small one stamped on the banner was again inked separately so that the words appear in two rows instead of one.

I stitched the banners to the panel, topped with a flair, resin flower, twine, sequins, and did some extensive splattering with Glimmer Mist as well. If you look closely, you will see the sun rays from the retired Super Star set, stamped in Wild Mango.

GIVEAWAY!

Would you like to win the Papel Picado set with a Companion Die? Just leave a comment below by 12.00 a.m. (midnight) EST on 08/05/14 to enter. I will select one random winner from all comments. Winner will be posted on the Releaser Winners page by noon.

Thanks for stopping by!

For cute’s sake

I made both of these a little while ago, with specific recipients in mind. The first one went to my niece who’s turning 6 shortly. She’s a girly girl and I knew she would love the abundance of patterns, and frills and all those lovely bits & bobs. So I went old style…

The girl is a Gorjuss Foxy, which I coloured with Copics, cut with Nestabilities Grand Ovals and sponged around with Old Paper Distress Ink. Grand Decorative Ovals One were used to frame the image and A2 Fancy Weave to go mat the MME Collectable patterned paper around the card.
I also embossed a strip of green cardstock with Imperial M-Bossabilities. Lots of the rarely used any more Spellbinders products here. I keep lots of my favourites for those special occasions when I want to do layers and whatnot. Perfect for the fussy (or small) recipients too :)

I added a stamped number ‘6’ to the girl’s dress and spelled the name of the girl with Thickers.

A decorated inside, with the sentiment from Hero Arts Be Happy Today set, and the fox from the same Gorjuss set that the girl comes in.

Here are the Copics I used for colouring:
dress: YG11/13/17
girl fox dress-up: Y15/21/26, YR24
ground: E84/81
hair: E07/53/59
skin: E00/02/04/93
+ warm greys for the shadows

Here’s another card which I made for a friend who had a baby. Simpler in design, it features my favourite Mimi from Penny Black: Sweet Dreams. Squeal-able stuff!

I decorated the card with a paper from Basic Grey Fresh Cut pad, which I die cut with MFT Bracket Edge Duo. The sentiment is from PTI Mega Mixed Messages, I inked it separately to get the words in a row rather than one under another. I finished the card with Studio Calico wood veneer Stars, Lawn Fawn Trimmings twine and as you can see, I did some sewing too.
The little flower that I decorated Mimi’s hat with, is a leftover from some die cutting session. I’m saving most of my die cuts, they come in handy more often than I care to admit :)

Copics used:
pajamas: B02/00/0000
rabbit: E01/84/89, R00
skin: E00/02/93, R83
blanket: R00/01/02/05 + colourless blender
hair: E31/33
N0 for the shadows

I’ll see you again soon, for a series of posts featuring some seriously yummy, brand new WPlus9 release, and a few regular posts in between!
