Florals just for fun

Written by: iwona    16 Comments

I had an amazingly relaxed couple of days, blogging wise. No assignments to stress about, I spent whatever time for craft I had purely on having fun with my supplies. Some new stamps were waiting to see ink and I was itching to revisit some favourites. And this is what happened 🙂

Favourites for sure, Painted Flowers and Label Love (both from Altenew), go together like peanut butter and jam. I stamped the outlines of the flowers only, treating them as a base for watercolouring. I used regular watercolour paints, added splatters with Silver Glimmer Mist and stamped some more splats with black ink - from the Stampin’ Up! set called Gorgeous Grunge. Quite lovely, eh?

I also indulged in the fantastic Summer Garden stamp set designed by Mama Elephant for Simon Says Stamp, and the matching dies. The flowers are dainty and just so gorgeous… so is the font used for the sentiments. It’s one of the few fantastic, newly developed fonts which seems to be used in ever increasing number of projects - from invitations to website design to branding, and which is making its way into paper craft as well. I hope it doesn’t end up being killed by over-use and landing on the list of forbidden fonts… like Scriptina. *wink*

So anyway… I coloured the images with Copics to my heart’s desire, added some dots with white gel pen, and mounted on a white panel with two borders stamped with WPlus9 Lake House ink and Chantilly Trim stamp set.

Another stamp set I revisited with joy, was PTI Doodlie-Do. I stamped one of the designs on a white panel three times and trimmed it on one side along the edges of the created border. Then I coloured the images (also with Copics) and mounted on a grey card.

Lastly, I went artsy with an eclectic mix of stamps and dies: Meadow Greens from PTI (ferns), Inkadinkado Reach For The Sky (butterfly), Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Words (sentiment) and Clustered Leaves die (also SSS).

I created a watercolour wash on the card, by painting on with a brush an ombre layer of three shades of Distress Paint: Antique Linen, Bundled Sage and Spun Sugar. Then I splattered some October Afternoon Hopscotch Sprinkler on a few places and stamped the ferns with Distress Inks (Peeled Paint, Victorian Velvet), misting the stamp with water after I inked it up. Same technique was used on the butterfly.

I hope you enjoyed… I hope you missed me just a little bit as well :p
See you tomorrow for a new CASE Study challenge! xx

  1. Gorgeous cards, Chupa! I especially love the first one — I ordered Painted Flowers and need to drive down to the US to pick it up. Hopefully this weekend….. I can’t wait to play with it! I love how you used it on your card! And you’re making me regret not getting the Label Love set, too…

  2. Your JUST for FUN cards dotay are some of my FAVORITES that you have made all year! The colors on the PAINTED FLOWERS is STUNNING! LOVE the pop of POOL blue on the label. DOODLIE-DO is one of my favorite sets to play with as well. Always good to see what you come up with. GREAT dimension on the partial cutting. The color randomness on the final card is very passionate.
