Mama Elephant love

Hi there! It’s been a few days since I shared anything, but I’m back with… wait, three cards?! I’ve been wanting to join in Mama Elephant April challenge, but alas, I was partly held back with other stuff and partly waiting on an SSS order with some coveted ME stamps (still waiting! they’re on reserve… grrr)

Then I decided that I make something instead, with my older but firm favourites - Fair Feathers and So Breezy.

I created the watercoloured background first, using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and then stamped the feathers and part of the sentiment, using ME inks in Mojito and Ocean. The ‘sunshine’ word was white embossed and I added a hint of green to the bottoms of the letters using a fine brush and more of the green Glimmer Mist. See how I combined the two stamp sets to create the sentiment? FUN. The last part was to gold emboss the tips of the feathers, and finish the card with some patterned paper, a strip of glitter tape, baker’s twine and some sequins / wood veneer.

I wasn’t hugely satisfied with that card which kept bugging me, so I modified one of the cards I made a few weeks back at the retreat, to roughly meet the inspiration photo. I used the super-adorable Pandamonium set (and Honey Bunny for the sentiment - adore those fonts!!), ones that I don’t own but was thrilled to ink up :)

I created the background with Distress Inks and added Triangles Die-Namics to the background and I’m sorry but I forgot to note down the manufacturer of the insta-frame… anyone? One of the buddies was originally holding a balloon but I replaced it with a wood veneer (Freckled Fawn Hearts).

Also, for the sake of posting all ME tonight, I’m sharing one more card from the retreat, this time I gave more love to Honey Bunny. This set IS coming my way so I’m trying to persevere :) I also used the Falling Hearts stencil from Simon Says Stamp, with a Memento Luxe ink. Totally blaming Joy for enticing my addiction to anything SSS. Happy sigh!

I paper pieced the bunnehs and made them sit on the “lawn” cut with ME Landscape Trio die set.

More magnolias and a mini class reminder

**I’ve been blogging every day so far this week, if you’re likely to have missed anything I hope you’ll take the time to scroll down my front page :) **

Apart from Painted Flowers which are a fav of mine, one more Altenew stamp set was emerging as your favourite, as I noticed in the blog hop comments - Magnolias For Her. So I decided to give them another go tonight, but this time the traditional way for this type of stamp - coloured in.

I was chuckling with hubby when I showed him the coloured blooms, saying: this is what happens when I settle on an idea of delicate, cream petals with a hint of blush. LOL, I reckon I don’t do subtle very well 😉
The Copics I used: E81, Y23, RV32/34/29, BV11

We’re three lessons down and today is my turn! I’m sharing a series of ideas for combining patterned paper with die cuts.

The Design Team prepared their own card samples, teasers of which you can see in the graphic above, and here’s an extra sneaky peek from me…

I used the Truth Is… stamp set by CAS-ual Fridays. The same one as on the card below, which I’m sharing here as a bonus project.

I coloured the flowers with Copics and paper pieced for dimension, then added some chunky glitter glue to the petals. I placed them inside a glittery frame which I die cut with square & scalloped Nestabilities from a MAMBI flash card (yes!), and created the sentiment by combining a partially inked stamp with the You die from Simon Says Stamp.

On my card I used the super lovely Music Mae, coloured with Copics and matched with the Basic Grey Fresh Cut paper. For the sentiment, I combined the Simon Says You die with the coordinating stamp set (which also happens to be called You). I gave the white panel a curved shape, with the Curved Edge die - also by Simon Says.

The Copic markers I used:
trousers: BG53/57/75
shirt: YG11/13/17
shoes / headphones: W2/W5/W7
headphones metal parts: C1/C3/C5
hair: E21/25/27/29
skin: E00/02/11/95
eyes: B93/95/97/99

We are also using SOG stamps on our StampNation Challenge cards this week. Here’s a peek at my project!
