Mama Elephant stamp spotlight: Soiree

I’m very happy to join the Mama Elephant Design Team this month, for the brand new stamp release, and today I’m placing their lovely Soiree stamp set in the spotlight. Perfect for birthdays and all sorts of celebrations, this set has many awesome images that can be mixed and matched to your heart’s content.
I created the fun little tag below, stamping the hearts from the set in a variety of inks, and highlighting some of them with a white Signo pen and dabs of Glossy Accents. The sentiment is borrowed from the Smitten set.

How about this birthday card? I created the stripes by stamping the back of a long strip stamp from a different set, then added the layered cake and wording. Who says you can’t have a green cake icing?? :)

Lastly, there’s this card, using my favourite stamps from the set - banner with inserts, and spruced up with some texture and dimension.

There you go, I hope you’ll like them :) See you again soon!

Faux watercolour wonder

Happy Monday! I hope it is :)
Lots on CAS cards on my blog lately, here comes another one, that I’m especially happy about! Funny how The Wonder of Watercolor challenge in the Moxie Fab World slipped me, I haven’t noticed it being on until earlier today, by sheer accident. It’s no secret that I love the watercolour look of all sorts and was instantly hit by a good couple of ideas. My choice fell on the Memento markers that I shamefully forgot about for long months. I remembered the beautiful effect they produce, being used in a direct-to-stamp technique. So, I took one of my detailed floral stamps (Flamboyant woodblock from Penny Black) and coloured it in using five different markers. Stamped it on a piece of white cardstock and voila! Here’s the result.

I love the effect so much, I’ll be looking into getting more Memento markers in near future! Can you imagine the possibilities?? This slightly watery, artsy look they give, while at the same time keeping any details you want, doesn’t it just make your heart skip the beat? :) Another thing I adore about them? The colours mix in such a cool way, you can experiment with ombre! Just look at the big orange & pink flower.

My card happens to fit the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge as well (CFC99).

Be sweet :)

April Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party

I’m interrupting today’s busy schedule, with a WMS Blog Party post! Another peek at the Penny Black GD card, WMS April Release Blog Waltz and CASE Study posts are coming shortly as well… yep, my bloggie is getting quite a workout!

The current theme is Spring flowers. Although we’re in a full Autumn mood here in Oz (it got pretty chilly lately), flowers are good in my books any time, regardless of the season! Mine are the hyacinths from the Vintage Garden Flowers set, that I treated to a bit of Copic colouring and paired with a few floral embellishments for a complete vintage look I was after.

Of course I would have added more WMS goodness to the card; I’ve got the background stamped in Distress Inks using Text It, Nordic Spring and Fancy Flourishes: Scallops & Dots. The sentiment belongs to the Compact Sentiments Part One set.

You still have a few hours left to join us! You can read all about the event on the WMS BLOG, as well as browse the already submitted entries and link up yours. Happy partying! :)

Today the Jay Gee’s Nook Design Team, as well as some friends from the blogland, joined forces to wish Judith (the owner of the store) a very happy birthday.
Have you hopped here from Laura’s blog? Fantastic! If you’d like to join in the fun, please start at the JG’s Nook blog where you’ll find a master list of participants and the details of the sweet prize offering.

Here’s a little card I made for her, using the Just My Type Die & Stamp set from My Favorite Things, Teresa Collins papers, some washi tape and Studio Calico embellies. Judith has a special going on in the store as well, giving everyone 20% off products. Hurry up though, the offer is valid for 1 week only, and ends on the 6th of April! Be sure to use the code EASTER.

Lovely Layers card

Hi there! Missed me much? Just kidding, I know I wasn’t gone for too long :)
I’ve been in a creative stupor for the last two days, therefore nothing much happening craft-wise except from maybe some mindless fiddling with the blog. I thought I’d use brute force and try to squeeze out any mojo at all, being a believer in the fact that the more you use it, the easier it’s to be unearthed the next time. Well, maybe it’s not always the case… *wink*
Another one of my ‘fresh’ PTI stamp sets was a perfect starting point, and with the help of a couple of challenges, I managed something decent enough :)

So, Lovely Layers is what’s on offer today. I’ve been seeing way too many pretties made with these stamps, not to use the first opportunity to get them in my own hands.
(for those of you who think “well, what’s the big deal, then?”, let me remind you that PTI has utterly ridiculous international postage costs and it makes it virtually impossible to order from them. Unless of course, I rely on friends’ kindness who can ship them to me in a slightly cheaper way. It’s still pretty expensive though, so ordering once-twice a year is as good as it gets…)

Anyhoo! They stamp beautifully so I’m a happy chicken :) I used a graph patterned paper from Teresa Collins for the background, and cut the opening in both PTI die & PP to reveal the Ocean Tides cardstock underneath. The layers on the flower add some delightful dimension.

Here are the challenges that I helped myself to today… (plus the Emphasize the Negative Challenge in the Moxie Fab World)

I took some photos of the craft room today, so methinks the long promised craft room tour is going to commence soon. Until then (or until whatever comes first, my scheduling is all over the place these days!), crafty friends!
