CASE Study Challenge #135

Written by: iwona    7 Comments

It’s the first CASE Study challenge for April, and it means I get the pleasure to introduce another Muse to our Pantheon! I know it’s perhaps not much of a reveal any more, since many of you recognized her from the sneak peek… but boy do I love it! Especially knowing what your response was, I’m sure April’s gonna ROCK!! Big welcome to JJ Bolton and her ingenious mind that gives her the ability to create amazing art pieces like this one…

OK, so you know I couldn’t pass on this piece, a classic JJ if you ask me and a truly amazing technique as well. You can look up how she did all that magic, in this post on her blog. I decided on this card also, so that I would finally try it myself. Gulp! Not without a big dose of stress!
Although being a lazy girl, I settled down for a single word die cut, rather than a set of separate letters like JJ did. Plus, instead of combining different solid stamps inked with different colours, I stamped my poppies (Hero Arts) with plum ink and only matched the Copic work on both the card base and the die cut (WPlus9). I added a simple “with” word to finish the sentiment and help accentuate it. I pulled out one of the Waltzingmouse Stamps sets for this pourpose, but I’m sure there’s plenty of fitting stamps in everyone’s arsenal, you just need to find something that matches in size & style.

  1. You may consider this ‘lazy’ but I consider it nothing short of superb!! Perfectly executed technique, and the partial Copic colouring is the perfect way to do this!!A wonderful variation and a yummy colour palette to boot!!

  2. When I saw this card on CASE Study, I didn’t even notice that you’d used the same stamping technique as JJ! I just wanted to tell you that I think the colors together are amazing! Now I also have to say that your technique is great too!

Your comments make my day!
