It’s CASE Study time!! As you know, JJ Bolton is our Muse for April and this week we present you with another one of her ‘staple’ cards (and one of the most magnificent creations I’ve ever seen). It’s not the easiest subject to work with, but I’m hoping that you’ll give it a go - whatever part of the design you choose to follow!
I admit that I had a long thought about what direction to choose, for my inspired card. I didn’t want to wander off too far, making it barely a challenge. I wanted to channel JJ’s ingenious approach to die-cutting, however hard that would prove. JJ I’m not, obviously, but after giving my brain a workout, I came up with this…
As I was browsing through of my dies, I saw the Quilt Cuts 2 die from WPlus9 and came up with the idea of using the tiny squares, arranging them in a sort of a funky, gradient pattern. I love the dainty ‘frames’ as well and I was setting them aside while cutting. The thought of adding them to the design was the last minute thing, I think it gives the arrangement a fun extra oomph - as well as popping up some of the squares on foam dots.
The stamps come from Mama Elephant’s Say What stamp set.
