CASE Study Challenge #173

Written by: iwona    14 Comments

We’re back in the New Year, with a brand new CASE Study challenge! Of course, the new month also means a new Muse, and we’re welcoming the awesome Donna Mikasa as our inspirational Designer. Here’s her card that we’re CASE’ing this week!

Super creative approach to the ‘spilling’ effect, love how Donna placed the letters so impeccably to create a very realistic scene. It’s quite hard to achieve a perfect balance, especially when mixing so many small elements and minding the placement of colours as well. I felt not quite as brave as Donna, when creating my card. However, I think the scene I created is so cute and I’m happy to have successfully braved another one-layer (if stepped up a bit).
This adorable guy comes from Mama Elephant‘s Up and Away stamp set, while the stars and the city below, were aided by another ME set, Believe In Magic.

I began by sponging the sky, then added grey splatters with spray mist and stamped the stars. Then I stamped the monkey on a separate piece of card, coloured it with Copics and cut out. Stamped the umbrella once more on the3 card front, added the tail and coloured in. Then stamped the sentiment and the city skyline below, filling in the rest with black pen.
Copics used:
monkey: W1, W3, WW5, E41, R20
umbrella: YR11, YG13, YG17, BG11, BG13, BG15, Y21, Y23, Y26, BV23, BV25
