Altenew Blog Hop

Welcome to the Altenew premier blog hop!

Altenew is the latest stamp company to open its doors to the paper crafting community. The stamps that you will see here will be available for purchase on April 7th.

You should have come here from Elena’s blog, but if you didn’t then I urge you to join us at the beginning – Altenew blog.

I’m positively starstruck today, joining the first class Designers in an event that promotes a new stamp company started by two of my dear blogging friends, Tasnim and Jen. Their designs are fresh and trendy and the quality next to none. Pretty exciting if I say so myself!

I’m sharing some cards made with the five stamp sets from their initial range – which is a whopping 14 sets! First up, here’s one featuring my favourites from the release – Painted Flowers and Label Love. I can see myself using both of them often, especially Label Love…. EEEK! Seriously, who needs a Dymo!?

I stamped the three-step flowers with a variety of Stampin’ Up! inks. The alignment of the layers appears to be a bit tricky at first but the truth is, you can’t go wrong with the designs that bring to mind freestyle watercolour wash effect. It’s gonna be lovely however you choose to pile the layers on. After I created the background, I stamped ‘happy birthday’ on a separate piece of cardstock, cut it out and popped up with a thread bundled up behind it.

The second card persistently brings to my mind the London Underground sign… once you see it, you can’t unsee… told ya’! However, I aimed at subtle, feminine look that goes well with the Magnolias For Her set.

I white embossed the flowers on vellum and shaded the petals on the back of the vellum, with blush coloured Copic marker. I also white embossed the sentiment, on a strip of SU! Strawberry Slush CS and mounted across the middle of PTI Sweet Blush card. Then I cut a circle with Nestabilities in the center of white panel, separated it in the middle and popped up on the card with the flowers on top.

One more card that I’m sharing today, features Ori Kami and Faux Veneers, and good ole’ watercolouring.

Here’s a pictorial showing you how I made it:

  42. Oh my goodness the Painted Flowers and Label Love sets are my faves too! I am just swooning over that first card, love the different colors on the leaves and petals. Looks fun! I just hope they release a few more sets similar to Painted Flowers because I love that look and the way it’s designed to stamp with solids being one color, and then the line of the flowers as another stamp. I don’t know how to say it, obviously, but I love it 😉
