October Beautiful World Tour

Hello Everyone and welcome to the Octoberr Flourishes Beautiful World Tour!!
Once again, it’s time to get those passports ready, grab a cup of coffee and prepare for take off as once again we prepare to travel the world and be inspired by talented girls from all parts of the globe!

Did you know that your travels around the Flourishes World gives you the opportunity to WIN?? All we ask is that you do a little globetrotting and stamp our passports (leave us a comment) and you could WIN A FREE FLOURISHES STAMP SET!! The catch is, you don’t know which country is going to be this month’s Vacation Spot (chosen blog), so leave a comment on each one by October 31st for your chance to win.

This month our hostess is the lovely DINA and our challenge is to CASE each other! We’ve all been inspired by other talented papercrafters at various times and a CASE challenge (Copy And Share Everything) is one of the best ways to get those creative juices flowing! Come travel with us and see which team member has inspired us to get crafty!

If you’ve jetted in from England from Meredith’s blog then you have arrived at the right destination. If you haven’t, perhaps you’d like to start your journey back in Florida at the Flourishes Blog so you don’t miss any of the inspiration along the way!

My inspiration today, comes from Dina! Here’s her beautiful card:

I loved that old-fashioned banner the moment I saw it, and how the fabulously coloured flower stands out. I decided to ink up Gerber Daisies, pulled out my Copics and got rolling :)

I coloured the petals with Dusty Rose Collection, adding a touch of R22 & R20 to the lighter areas. The centers were done with Tiger Lily Collection (I didn’t use the lightest shade), and the green parts were coloured with Olive Green markers.

I also used a MME patterned paper (like you wouldn’t know… *wink*) and the gorgeous banner die from Spellbinders Ribbon Banners set.

Thanks for taking time to visit me here in Australia, it’s time to grab your passports and board Flourishes Flight BWT, your next destination is………

Die frenzy

Hi there! I’ve been bragging about Cameo at length lately, but the truth is, I’d never turn away from my dies either. What I especially love about them, is that they all give a neat cut on the upper side, with the edges ever so slightly rounded, so that the finish is fabulously sleek. Anyone else noticed that? I’m a sucker for this look :)
I decided to give my dies some love tonight, and I somehow ended up with the look you don’t normally see on my blog. Channeling my inner Beate, perhaps? *wink*

Lots of Spellbinders dies here… I started by cutting A2 Fancy Weave Nestabilities® through the folded card, leaving a bit of a die above the crease so that the two flaps hold together.
Then I cut four rectangles with the A2 Matting Basics B Nesties, three out of white CS and one out of MME Miss Caroline patterned paper - for the front.
I adhered them in pairs, on both sides of each flap. They are just bigger enough than the inside edge of the weave, to get a good grip along the sides.
The Flourishes image from the Summer Blossoms stamp set, was framed with Standard Circles LG & Lacey Circles, and coloured with Copics.
The tag has a sentiment from the same set on it, plus a bit of a smaller floral image, and I sponged it with Versa Color Cinnamon ink. The tag was die cut with Back To Basics Tags Shapeabilities®.
The finishes include some baker’s twine and Liquid Pearls.

I’m slowly making my way up, through the Flourishes birthday challenges. This card was made for the “Colorful Celebration” challenge, with the given colour palette given as you can see below:

In my true fashion, I spiced up the pastel hues with some more “oomph”. Strong colours is what I usually end up with, when colouring 😉
Thanks for peeking in,

Berry simple

Chances are that if you’re reading this, you might have missed my Sketchbook post below… feel free to scroll down to check it out! 😉

I was itching to do some inking tonight, but I wasn’t sure what stamps to pull out, until I stumbled upon a new challenge blog called CASology, that hosts a fruit-themed challenge this week (I’m making it in just a nick of time!)
I remembered the new Big Berries - Strawberry set from Waltzingmouse that I was so stoked to receive in the mail last week. With additional help of the ISSC26 sketch, this little CAS number came to life:

I did a little masking, in order to stack the fruit. It might not be the neatest job around, but it worked :) I *love* these over-sized berries… I honestly can’t wait to see more in the series! Happy sigh.

The challenges:

See you around :)

The Craft’s Meow July Release - Day 1

Hey hey!! How about throwing in some excitement… today start the sneak peeks of the July Release at The Craft’s Meow, and we’re all eager to show you the fabulous new sets!! I hope you’ll join us each day, for an inspiration from the Design Team and a chance to win the new stamps.

The Craft's Meow

Before I get to my card for today, please help us welcome our Guest Designer, Naomi Gong! This talented girl will take part in our June release festivities.

Today we’re introducing two sets called Ladies & Gents (by Elizabeta Kushner) and Hope Blooms (by Karen Baker).

I inked up the umbrella and the lovely sentiment from Ladies & Gents, for my first card. I cut out the umbrella and popped it up on foam tape, after I coloured it in with my Copics. The background was stamped in Versa Magic Wheat, with one of the the blooms that come in the Hope Blooms set.
The strip of paper is from Echo Park (A Walk In The Park), and I tied bow with a SU! grosgrain ribbon.

On my next card, I created the scene with the other flowers from Hope Blooms, and adding some leaves to them. I paper pieced the petals with DP from American Crafts.
The picket fence comes from another TCM set called Nature’s Beauty, and I white embossed it over the flowers. Lastly I added some die cut grass (Die-Namics).
The sentiment from Hope Blooms was stamped in Palette Fresh Snow ink.
The strip of DP is from October Afternoon (Sidewalks), and the twine is My Mind’s Eye.

Lastly, I made this quick sympathy card, again with Hope Blooms, and I put the sentiment in the frame from Inspired by Audrey set.
I painted the flowers with Tattered Angels Glitter Paint in Times Square, which gave them a semi-transparent sparkly cover.

You can win one of today’s new sets (Hope Blooms or Ladies & Gents), by leaving a comment on the TCM blog today!! You have until 9:00 pm PDT to do so! Also, please take the time to see all of the designers’ blogs.
See you tomorrow, for the peek into two more fantastic new sets!

CAS-ify me: Moxie Fab challenges

TGIF, my friends! I’m having a delightful morning on my own, chilling out while Zuzia is playing her heart out at the day care. I decided to get my craft on and challenge myself to a couple of CAS designs.
Photography is still failing me lately, so what you see is what you get… blame it on the pesky rainy weather!

I pulled out the Perched Reed Bird die for Memory Box again, and some washi tape, for this card inspired by Tuesday Trigger: Allegro con Brio.

The sentiment is from WPlus9 set called Hope Seed Co. Here’s the inspiration:

For the second card I inked up The Craft’s Meow stamps from the set called Thanks Bee To Thee.

I created this one for the Hooked on Hexagons Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. I also used the colours from the 200th challenge at The Color Throwdown. Big congrats, CTD!!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fantabulous day :)

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #67

Here it is, a new Saturday sketch! …on Sunday morning rather than yesterday, with two recent posts I wanted to space things out more evenly. I’m sorry, I hope you didn’t have to wait!
It’s another CAS layout, I’ve been on a CAS kick lately and I’m enjoying it. As always, feel free to build it up, add layers and whatever rocks your socks!

Thank you for your opinions about my photography under yesterday’s post! I’ve been taking all of my photos in the bright room but the one that never sees a direct sun. There’s plenty of light there but there are days like yesterday, when I get a bluish haze. I’m a fan of daylight photos and I’ll keep trying places until I find the right solution :)
I ventured to the kitchen today, to take the picture below. It’s flooded by sunlight and again it affected the photo in a different way. Leaving it so for now…

Photography issues aside, can you see I actually made a one-layer card?? Moreover, I like it. Goodness knows I love when it happens :)
I used the stamps from WPlus9 (Flora & Fauna & Defining Words), and the sentiment from PTI (Year Of Flowers: Morning Glories). I stamped the text in Old Paper Distress Ink, added the small butterflies in Memento Espresso Truffle (gawd, I love my new shades of Memento!), and the big butterfly was stamped in Lilac Posies, cut out and shaded with a Copic marker.

I’m linking this card into the Stamp It! Cards Thank You Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, and CFC60 - Text Me.
