CASE Study Challenge #169

Written by: iwona    10 Comments

We’re kicking off another month at CASE Study today, but we’ve got something quite different up our sleeves… December is the time that we decided to give our thanks to the one and only Cath from the Moxie Fab World. If you’ve been living under a rock, you might have missed the news that Cath (who was also a Trends Editor for Paper Crafts Magazine) stepped down from being a host for MFW and the news was such a shocker to many. We at CASE Study all loved her wit, heart and mentorship and we thought it would be great to pay tribute to the inspiration she shared with us, by featuring some of our favourite past “Oh My Moxie Fab” posts. Here’s today’s choice, and you can find the original post here.

Arguably the trendiest of our challenges for the month, the pairing of gold and jewel tones on this stunning peacock feather dress is just *so* awesome. I just know that there will be plenty of gold dipped feathers coming up in the submissions but I couldn’t resist doing so myself - especially that I haven’t tried it before. I know… duh!
I realize that this card is so like the Flourishes card I shared the other day - complete with embossing on vellum, flicked ink and the same green twine bow. It had to be, apparently I’m in the mood for this particular style :)

I embossed each feather with either chartreuse or teal powder, and added gold to the tips. I wanted a speckled look on one of the feathers but since embossed surface holds no ink, I had to use the pearls to imitate the look. There is some very subtle stamping going on in the background (which are the ferns from PTI‘s Meadow Greens set) but I had difficulties capturing it on the camera.

  1. Wonderful idea for this month’s Muse!! Love this bright graphic interpretation, the feathers are perfect and the angling so evokes that dress!!
